Arrow

I Just looked at the PC version of the game today at a local store. I was wondering if it was worth the price and if so is it possible to solo or must you be part of a group?

I've tried it for a while. but didn't like it. To me it's not worth the price. You MUST party in order to level up. soloing is possible but it's very very hard. However, it's quite hard to find a group of people that will party with you. Even if you find a party, 1 or 2 hours later that party will probably disband and you are all alone again.

Thanks ... I was afraid of that. Considering that I only get online at rare times and usually not for more than an hour, I would have a hard time Grouping up with anyone long term anyway. Oh well I guess I will stick with the PS2. Just getting to the end of Front Mission 4. When I finish that I guess I will move onto Star Ocean: Till the End of time.

Don't let Kakero discourage you from a genuinely fun game, Wulfere

What you need for FFXI is two or three friends in your time zone / close to it -- in my case, in the same dorm room -- whom you can always party with and who won't disband on you...

... if you can arrange that, it can be a really fun game!

It's basically standard MMO fare, which can be obtained elsewhere at lower cost.

Personally, if I was to dump money into the pit of MMOdom, it would go towards EVE online.

Thanks for the input folks. I do appreciate it.
But, I will pass for now I think. I do have a friend playing "City of Heroes". She tells me that Soloing there is do-able. If I feel like dumping more money down the Cable Modem I may try that. I was curious about FFXI because I have always enjoyed the FF series.
