I've played quite a bit over the last couple (couple hours per day) days and I JUST got to the delta labs. I think I've got a fair bit of the game left.

They did a heck of a job recapturing the feel of the origonal Doom's, it's been a blast... and the graphics are just awesome.

The game is awesome and the developers intended that it would be more slow paced that the previous Doom games. Playing with the lights off and setting the volume to the max really keeps you on edge. And time to time you do come across a whole lot of demons that crawl out of vents and such. The creature I most dread coming across? In the old Doom there was an invisible creature and I hope it is in Doom III.

I have read on other forums that fans are going crazy. They bought a computer for a 1000 $ but beside graphics nothing special. You walk, you shoot, you walk, you shoot, you walk, you shoot. See the pattern? Boring as hell.

All the feedback I've heard is positive to very positive. After all, pretty much every shooter is a variation on the move/shoot theme.

As far as systems, I don't have anything screaming fast at home...

I've run the game on my laptop, a Pentium M 1.6 with a ATI FireGL graphics adapter. At 640x480 it's very playable.

On my best desktop (overclocked 2400 Athlon with a GeforceFX 5700 Ultra) it plays great at 800x600, have not tried 1024x768.

There is a minimum of 380 meg of RAM, but I have never trusted the minimum specs for any game.

I am not a hardcore fan of FPS, so my opinions might be biased. When I got to play Doom3 at a LAN shop, I could not help but get the feeling that Doom3 was nothing more than System Shock 2 with better graphics.

Well, except SS2 enabled you to upgrade your character as well.

I will give Doom3 credit for implementing the real-time terminals though.
