Oh yeah, at TTLG, the dude that was playing was cut to pieces for how he was playing--I too was like, WTF??! I usually try to ghost the entire level and NEVER attack the guards.

Two things I hated (and MANY others did too, are

The Loot pickup counter is freaking HUGE and takes up the entire screen. They said that that is fixed, and smaller. SO Xboxish..

Arrows show a blue trail.. If the color was gray and lighter, I wouldn't mind as much. Other than that, It looks amazing.

Did you see those real-time shadows the guards leave on the wall? That was so cool, and his mech eye is cool too. Same type of music--creepy and spooky. (Same guy that did the sounds/music for T1 and T2 is onboard this game too, so it'll kick ass)

VERY cool. I hope the levels are HUGE, but if we gotta load a few times, I guess it's okay.. The reason the level is 'cut up' into loading pieces is because of the XBOX... Xbox has only 64MB of ram. lol. damn!

Whoever was playing was an idiot. Other than that, I like it.

oh yeah. that was amazing!

combined with those screenies that show the camera way above garrett's head, while he's on the rooftop of a 2 or 3 story building and watching the activity on the street down below him, well, i'm thinking more and more that t3 will be a great finish to LGS' original concept.

the only thing that bugged me was that they said that they made the loot thingie smaller. i still don't like the idea of it scrolling thru the center of the screen every single time garrett picks something up. it's a real mood killer. i prefer the LGS way, where it's tucked away in the corner.

but then again, a few folks who know game setups better'n me have suggested that they'll prolly have most of those as options in a setup menu or at worst, ini files that can be edited. and i'm down with either way. as long as i can make the final decision, i'm happy.

and i won't even say what i think about the way the guy was playing the game. i fully realize that most folks wanna see what action the game has to offer and would not enjoy watching a video of how i play the game: sitting in a dark corner for hours, memorizing patrol patterns and then zipping out, giving everyone an all too brief glimpse of garrett as he slips into the next shadow. /edit

oh yeah.... eric (the sound designer) really is essential to the game. his music has been the cornerstone of thief, setting the whole mood of the city and garrett's place in it. his wife, terri, is still there too; with her great writing and voice-overs of some of the women's parts like she did in the first two.

now, let's just hope that our efforts in the Easter letter writing campaign to have eidos release the SDK will have an impact. those great fan mission designs are central to what's been keeping the thief flame burning over the years.

Yep! I signed that petition as well. I Hope they do release it, I mean, look at all the most successful games in history: Doom, Quake, Ureal T, and others... NWN, were/are popular because of the editors and fan community.. It gives the franchise a much longer lifespan.

BTW, I grew up with the Goldbox games and such, and always loved the music and stuff from George "The Fat Man" Sanger. Anyone else? He still does it too, and has his own company for outsourced stuff!!

Looks very cool, kind of like a Dark Ages version of Splinter Cell (which was a very fun game). The video was grainy but from the screenshots the graphics look good, and the gameplay looks plenty challenging, although the seemingly unlimited number of flash grenades in the video seemed pretty cheesy, and if you can sneak up behind someone you should be able to cut his throat in a single attack instead of having to swing and swing. I guess I wish most games these days were more realistic, a guy with a sword would kill a thief character in a single blow, and a crossbow in the face would kill ANYTHING. If you have a bow equipped, you're just NOT going to get a shot off with a guy standing right in front of you swinging a sword. That dope stood and waited until the target was on top of him before shooting. In a realistic world, a thief that's been detected by two armed and armored guards is going to die unless he can outrun em.

Of course I'm still going to give it a try once it comes out for the PC... looks like a fun game and someone will come out with a realism hack that fixes all the problems.

Yep i signed it too so let "hope" they release a mission builder, i have made fm's (fan mission's) to Thief for ages now and i loooove it, so lets hope for the best
Anyway did you notice that they have the same music or what it is when you reach your goal as in the other games? Wery nice!!
Okay it's a Xbox game ported to pc so the load scenes will be there but as long as the missions are big that is not so bad like in KOTOR i did not think it was so terrible.

So the next game i would see from Ionstorm now is System Shock III lol but that is maybe to much to ask for hehe
