What I like most about operation Flashpoint is that there are no boundries. You can baisclly go anywhere on the map any time you want and that you can get in a variety of vechiles. It's not like those other games that you gotta get shot ten times to die. In flashpoint once or twice you are dead and when you do get hit you are wounded. That is one of the most realistic games ever. And goes to show that even though you are an expirenced gamer you cannot beat a mission entriely by yourself without your squad. You know typing this inspired to play the game again thanks!

Yeah but I am a solo fighter, a.k.a RAMBO. Therefore I don't enjoy playing OpFlash. Hey, Splinter Cell is kind of cool. I like it!!!

Anyone here playing Deadly dozen 2 perhaps ? I recently started playing it, and so far it looks like a promising game. It's kinda like Ghost recon.

I love the covert ops. missions in Operation Flashpoint. Like Sythe said there are no boundaries. You can do things however you want. There was one mission where you have to sneak into a base and plant charges to blow up some tanks. Then you have to go through a forest to get back to friendly territory. But instead of running through an enemy forest I decided to steal one of their helicoptors. The base alarms went off but by then I was in midair, detonating the charges and firing missiles at the base.
That's what I love about Flashpoint, the freedom to do things your way.

What I love about Flashpoint is the atmosphere. The radio commands the truck rides,... I never played a game where I had fun riding 5 km in a truck!
The mission that highlights that best certainly is "After Montignac" when you're stuck alone in the woods and have to get to the extraction point in broad daylight with choppers and tanks patrolling everywhere. That gave me the cold sweat. Also OFP has been the only game so far I decided to write a WT for (because there was none available in the first place). The addons however aren't so great anymore. Don't get me wrong I still love Red Hammer and Resistance but they are a bit weak on the plot side (while promising more at the start) and not developing as smooth as the main program.

I still believe that OFP is one of the best FPS type games on the market, and it has amazing replayability. Virtually every mission can be solved multiple ways.
There's one mission where as a sniper you go to one place and blow up some ammo, then go to a base, sneak in and blow up some helicoptors. The first time I did it I used stealth to sneak in and plant satchel charges... never fired a shot, just spent an hour on my belly sneaking around. The second time I took out a guard, jumped into a tank and blew the snot out of everything on the base, then went back to the ammo dump and took out everyone there too. I love the fact that you can take advantage of stuff on the battlefield, from weapons and ammo to heavy tanks and choppers. Don't like the crappy AK you're guy is stuck with, well upgrade at the nearest ammo dump or body. I also like to pick up those RPG's, even as a sniper they can come in handy. |
