I've just finished the MQ. Some good bits, some lame bits and a finale that's about a hundred times better than Morrowind. And then back to lame.

Keeping true to my Morowind character strategy, i think i'll crank up a mage character and do some spellunkin'.

I have finished what seems to be the main storyline, and am looking at joining the Fighters guild and Mages guild....

I'm also a Vampire and have been for the majority of the game, which made some parts challenging, bu I managed to stay out of the sun
My Level 3 Spellsword has just saved Kvatch. Yaay!

Question: when you finish the main quest (like Hive did) does the game keep going or what?

It continues on for as long as you want it to. Although it's not much different from Morrowind. People recongnise you as the hero, but the quests remain the same. You still got to start from the bottom when it comes to guild work. Mildly insulting.

Mildly insulting!?
"Welcome, Archmage. I need help with my assignment. I am to collect four different kinds of mushrooms if I am ever to become a journeyman..."
I can't imagine anything different in Oblivion either. But, as I gather right now, you have to fully complete a ring now to ascend to the next one, atleast within a group(Dark Brotherhood, Mages Guild etc.)

Well, My level 23 Mage Character is a blast to play. I started the Mages Guild quests later i nthe game, around level 9 or so, and got *much* better equipment rewards than if I had started at level 2, I reckon.

I'm Archmage now, and the ability to take apprentices with you is awesome! Finally those dungeons don't seem as lonely

Especially since the apprentice I have now casts paralyze All the time.
