It's a very fun and immersive hack&slash game. If you don't expect heavy RPGness this game is mega-awesome.

..."Heavy RPGness"? Oblivion delivers plenty of roleplaying elements...you just have to stay in character. If you stay in character, it's pretty good. Granted, my character tends to be the "Hey, I think I'll go do this" kind of guy (or gal), but I'm okay with that.
I guess when NWN 2 comes out, it'll be more of a roleplayer's game, but at the same time, not being able to go do whatever you want at any time is not a very rpg-ish aspect...I can attest to many times that while I was struggling in a nasty fight with some people with big guns (in PnP), the rest of the characters I was playing with were relaxing on an island in the Pacific Ocean...and Oblivion lets you do that ![]()

Have them MERGE! Anything you want, with a great roleplaying aspect. We'll call it, NeverOblivion Nights. Or OblivionWinter Nights.
Or something |

I dunno... NWN sucked until the add-on's and community mods came out. The only thing oblivion is lacking compared to NWN is the deep conversation tree... but the conversation tree that it does have is all vocal, which helps with immersion. I also have to say I like the character development style of NWN (traditional D&D), although the Elder Scrolls appraoch is actually more... realistic I guess.
Overall I'd classify Oblivion as a CRPG not an Action RPG... although it's definitely got ARPG elements. |

After playing a dozen odd characters in Morrowind, my head was full of ideas on what Oblivion could have had. Only the combat, it seems, has been given a major facelift. (Combat's also the only element that may seem un-RPGish. But i think it's exactly what was needed in the ES series.) IMO, the only area where Bethesda has actually gone backwards from Morrowind is the dialogue. I've said it from the start: 100% voice acting will seriously restrict dialogue options. And it did. A lot of people like it, but those who enjoy RPing the social elements as much as the action feel ripped off. There was so much potential here...

Hehehe... Getting Oblivion within a day or two. Just hope my PC doesn't have a stroke or spasm running it.
