I'm probably stating the obvious, so please forgive me, but with 50ft that's an awful lot of mana you are wasting per cast
Oh, and just as another random point - I found the 'barrier' spells absolutely useless - be they first or fifth so I wouldn't even spend money buying them. If someone's hitting you in the face with a great big sword, it'll just take them one swing more. (ie. two instead of one ![]() |

I thought that at first so I saved it just before I bought the spell, then tested it out on that nix hound, it looked so cool I just had to have it
![]() I have 50pt absorbtion to magic from the Atronach, and 75% fire resistance from my race as Dark Elf, does this mean I have 125% fire resistance, and if it goes above 100% will fire heal me? I seem to be asking a lot of questions, there is so much to find out in this game! ;D [ 10-20-2004, 06:47 PM: Message edited by: Snezzeke ]

I'm sure that will be fine. I tended to favour 'touch' because it's so much cheaper and easier to cast, but if you're only doing spells like that then it should not be an issue yet.
I would recommend 'remove health' rather than 'fire damage' simply because fire is the most common immunity. You risk running across an enemy who's immune to your favourite spell if you choose an elemental damage. Having said that, it took me years to find someone to buy a remove health spell from (and you can't make your own until you have at least one spell like it already in the book) I'm sure fire will do you fine in the meantime and 1ft should be more than enough unless you don't play many FPS's and have problems quickly aiming. I believe I ended up going for 'target' rather than area spells (again because of the lower mana cost) but to each his own. Sorry I edited my post before I realised you replied, favouring a different question than the one I had already posted :|
Thanks though

Lol, not to worry.
I'm fairly sure the answer is no and no. Although to be honest I just played the game without getting too involved in the game mechanics - without the BG2-esque combat details I'm lost ![]() I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will step into the breach however I really wouldn't spend too much time on defense though...I certainly never did. Once you can craft a nice constant effect 'give health' amulet or somesuch it will never really be a problem and you should be destroying them before they get that close. I can never ever really recall being hit by anything fiery...it's either metal and pointy or magical in nature. Magic resistance would probably be a good idea (protecting you against magical fire as well), because as a mage you'll struggle against a particular high-level magic-using creature which is pretty resistant to your spells and you may have to slug it out. If you like fire spell try
100 fire damage in 10 ft radius 1 sec. 100 weakness to fire most will die when the spell hit them. but be carefull of the mana cost. Such spell can be used with cold and lighting damage too. now try this 100 fire damage in 10 radius 1 sec 100 poison damage in 10 radius 10 sec you'll have your own personnel Nuclear Blast spell. ![]() |
