I've re-loaded Morrowind after several months as I went mad this weekend and got both expansion packs and other goodies.

Since the last time I played, I've got a new processor (Athlon 1.6 upgraded to 2.4) and video card with latest drivers installed (I'm at work so cannot remember which one).

The good news is that (fingers crossed) I haven't had any crashes to desktop every hour, unlike my previous installation. However, the problem I do have is that when entering/leaving a shop it takes 20-30 seconds before you are in the shop/out in the street. This didn't happen before.

Also, when outside there's an annoying few seconds delay while it loads the next area. Or am I being too picky here?

Any advice gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

It also happen to me. however as long as it doens't crash the game. I don't complain much.

btw, have you have any mods installed? some of them might slow down the game performance.

happens on mine, and i run a P4 2.66 gHz with a 64 mB Radeon 7000, so yes, youre being a bit picky. (part of it has to do with reading the CD as well, so as not to overload the CPU with too much map data at once).

As long as I'm not being victimised!

I think Kakero may be right, I have some ten mods installed. I've got the Cimmerian race one (I loved reading about Conan when younger), the Balmoral alleyway trader, Bitter Coast sounds, Dodging mod and two more race mods (Dwarves and Giants). can't remember the others.

I'll start a new game tonight with no mods selected just to see if there's any improvement although from what you both say it's something I have to live with!
Thanks anyway.

Another quick question, has the Mercantile bug been fixed yet? If I remember correctly, the higher your skill, the less money you got when bartering (I think).

i have GotY ed. and that bug doesnt seem to be in place anymore. but i've stopped bartering. I just steal everything that i want to get, and instead of selling, i give it to the merchant crab for nothing and then use the console to add that much gold to my inventory to save time.

The bug is still there if I remember correctly ( even with latest patch ). However since I sell stuff only to Creeper this bug isn't much of a hassle.
