When it comes to character types, its whatever flats your boat!

Personally, in both BG (in all its forms) and PnP games I've always gone for fighters (more BG), thiefs and mages. Clerics don't do it for me for some reason!

I hardly ever dual-class but I'd say a fighter-thief has the advantadges of being able to wear more armor than a normal thief (although not be able to use thief abilities while wearing armor) and being able to use more weapons. Am I right? When I dual-class I choose thief-mage which a friend of mine has descreibed as "a mage with a bow" or mage-cleric, you just need REALLY good stats for a mage-cleric.

I almost always play a F/T. Consider being a dwarven one, as dwarves are the 2nd best theives and, with the ability to get 20 CON, are able to regenerate.

Why do you consider dwarves as 2nd best thieves ? Id say they´re the worst thieves as they can´t get 18 dex without tomes. Just my opinion anyway

I think they are the second best thieves because I, well, ummm, didn't think hard enough . I'd completely forgotten about the DEX modifier and was going on racial adjustments. So, they're actually the worst thieves, as they lose the 25 bonus points for 18 (later 19) DEX.

Still, I do think they make the best thieves and F/Ts, if only because you can usually get enough skill points to do most of what you want whatever you choose.
