I was playing the new official plugin from Betheesda, "Siege at Firemoth".

A legion fort has been captured by undead, you must free it and return a mysterious powerful object.
Freeing the fort is easy, lots of enemies but easy ones; also you have three sidekicks who can help if needed.

The problem comes with the final "boss", who is absurdly powerful: I tried first with my 22nd level thief and got my butt kicked even before I could see the boss' face. Then, just to see how powerful really the guy was, I tried with my 35th level warrior. I expected an easy fight (equipment and stats are pretty impressive - see photo), but it was tougher than expected: I had to keep hitting the guy for a couple of minutes with a daedric axe(that is, I leveled from 86 to 88 in axe, MINOR skill) before he went down - and I even had to quaff a couple of quality restore health because of its spells..

My question is: is there an alternative to brutal force to send him to hell? Maybe something like a vodoo doll, burning his heart or things like that?
And what about spells (It is undead)?

I am asking because I would like to finish the quest with the thief as well, but there is no way I can do that by merely chopping him before 40th level or so, since mty char is not too hot in melee...

Try to get your hands on the deadric longbow in the fletchershop in Vivec. I wouldn't know what it costs cause i stole it, but since your char is a thief anyway that shouldn't be too much trouble. Then buy some bundles of "dread" arrows, you have several types, but make sure they are dread. Now you can deck ANY opponent with 3 or 4 arrows at the most, nothing can stand those arrows fired from THAT bow. Good luck.

or if you want to be cheesy and without having to find items like that, grab a normal bow and the best arrows you find in your local shop, levitate and hang around firing whilst levitated, only spells can hit you, and so long as you keep casting or have levitate on an object theres not much the boss guy can do

I had thought that, and I have used this trick in other fights. The problem is, the big bad guy only casts spells. Thanks anyway.

As to the dread arrows, they are really powerful (I mean POWERFUL: 1 arrow = 1 ordinator in 1.5 seconds), but they are so powerful they look quite unbalanced... maybe the designers were a bit generous there.
However, they should work. Thanks Johnny

You're welcome dude, i had much joy of that bow when i entered the shrines i visited yet. Sometimes you'll get cornered by 3 or 4 enemies at the same time, and to avoid too much damage i levitate and kill em from above with the dreaded arrows, piece of cake.
