hello!! i finally got the game working after finally upgrading my video card. although the game is kinda slow, im enjoying it. i do have a couple of questions...

im planning to be a magic user conjurer/destruction with a slow mix of the rest so any suggestions for spells and concentration of skills??

best way to increase my level??

do you have any sidekick you can hire or recruit??

is there anyway to run faster in the game??

im getting confused in the maps because its so big so im not sure where im going whether im going south or north.

is there a way for quickslots??

1)To increase one level you must increase a total ten points in your major and minor skills - e.g 2 long blade, 6 heavy armor 1 block 1 athletics -.
Miscellaneous skills can increase but they give you no benefit as to level.

Three ways to improve:
a)Practice your skill. Notice that you improve only if you use the skill with success - e.g. chopping the air with your staff won't give you anything, you need to hit some critter or enemy-
b)Trainers: some NPCs can train you, for a price. Simply talk to them and select Training (just on top of the dialogue options)
c)books. Some books increase your skill level when you read them. Note that it isn's necessary to take them - which means you can read somebody else's book without committing a crime-

2)No. Although sometimes you will get quests in which you must protect/help someone. In that case they will help (or hinder) you in combat.

3)Keep jumping as though you were playing a first person shooter. You will move faster and also increase you acrobatic skill.
You can also choose whether to run or walk - on PC the default key is Caps Lock-
You can increase your Speed by leveling
You can travel light: the more burden you carry, the slower you run

4)Look in your minimap on the bottom left corner of the screen: if the arrow (=you) points up, then you are going north, if down south and so on
The same for the big map.

5)Don't know, but doesn't matter much, since when you open the inventory the game automatically pauses, so you have all the time to do whatever you want.

Welcome to Morrowind.

To load an item or magic spell into a quickslot press F1, and follow the instructions that pop up on your screen. Keys 1 - 9 will then access the item in the slot you've allocated.

Happy Hunting,

definately get athletics speed and acrobatics up to 100 each, once you do you can literally leap small mountains (well kinda ) standing jump up to twice the height of a person (easy to get on top of buildings or bypass terrain plus you run around the map fast and athletics and acrobatics both rise just by bunnyhopping about the map (dont run dont walk jump everywhere and you'll hit 100 in no time, also i found falling alot raises it quickest but you have to hurt yourself in doing so, so fall off hurt yourself and keep doin it then rest and do it again, raises fast that way, mobs cant deal with you if your fasytt as you can run rings around them, plus if you jump high enough the mob AI cannot detect you in which case they run off looking for you and you can score lots of free hits before they realise acrobatics of 100 is fun

You asked how to go faster. The best way is to complete the misc quest that rewards you with the Boots of Blinding Speed. Once I found these boots, I never took them off. They're starting to smell a bit. Note that for some races, the boots are difficult to use. I am Breton, so it wasn't too bad.

As to where the quest is, I don't remember. It is near the starting town I think. It is an escort quest and I think the destination is Hla Oad, but I may be wrong.

The quest starts from outside Caldera, past the intersection to the mine, on the road to Hla Oad or some other forgotten village.
Anyway the boots are quite good, but they have a downside: they make you blind (30%) IIRC; with resist magic or even night eye (although I am not sure about this last) you can reduce the effect, and see almost normally while running very fast.
Too bad they are netch leather boots, so they don't suit a warrior with a heavy outfit... I guess a quickslot with these boots and another with the daedric can fix it

Actually, I'm pretty sure the boots are Blind 100%. My character is a Breton with 50% magic resistance, so he could kind of see. Now I have a couple of constant Night Eye effect items I made (around 40% between the two) and a contant 10 pt Light item and it's just a shade darker than normal when I wear the boots.

The best way to travel is via Levitate. This makes it much easier to do quests as you can fly directly to your destination without worrying about mountains or water. Once you can make a permanent item, I highly recomend a permanent levitate. Only downside to levitate is you cannot sneak.
