Taunting .........

Anyone know why taunting NPCs never works for me(meaning they never attack me)?? Im playing as a Dunmar thief/assasin adventurer so i dunno if that matters. Every time i try to taunt people whenever it succeedes all it does is lower their disposition unitl it is 0, but they will never attack me... is this maybe a bug or just wont work for my kind of class?

make sure you got successful taunt because successful taunt count but fail taunt does not count. After a few successful taunt. A red goodbye will appear. press that red goodbye and the npc will attack you.

if u wan npcs to attack u, (i dun noe why u wan that....) just go into sneak mode and steal their things... they will go mad and try to kill ya.......

How do you pickpock? I tried pressing the sneak button, waited till I got the sneak icon, and pressed enter (action or activate) on the person, but the dialogue screen came..

You sneak and press space bar, but you need a high sneak/securitylevel or else they notice and u get a whoopin off some guards.J:J

Hold on, I think there is a significant difference between taunting and stealing. They both may have a similar effect, namely NPC's attacking you, but stealing is a federal offense and will be punished by guards and such, while taunting is not a crime. Thus taunting is IMO the 'legal' way to get NPC's to attack you.

Yes. Zuvio is correct. Not actually a "Federal" offense as such, but more of an "Imperial" offense what with this being a game and all, not that it matters. The fact is, if you taunt someone and they get angry, THEY institute the aggression, and you are just defending yourself. If you ask enough people in the game for secrets, sooner or later someone will tell you that if someone attacks YOU, you can kill them, cause you're only defending yourself.

Not the same as stealing at all.

If you steal and someone sees you, there is an instant bounty on your head, you are the instigator of the fracus. Anyone in Tamriel(or at the very least anyone on the island of Vvvvardenfell)is legally empowered to collect on that bounty, though usually the only ones who'll attack you are guards and the shopkeeper/homeowner who caught you...and all their friends.

Getting back to the original question. You just have to keep taunting until you succeed about three times. I have a 78 for my Speechcraft and still have to try for several minutes sometimes to really *iss someone off. It just takes a little patience...maybe a LOT of patience sometimes...

Thats actually very realistic. When friends of yours insult you, you get more upset then when a complete stranger swears at you.

That`s the part that bugs me as well. I have had to bribe npc`s to get my disposition with them up so my taunts continue to be succesfull. Untill your Speechcraft skill is higher it just seems so fake. Taunting/saying something rude about his/her mother a couple times, fail your next taunt attempt, give them so money so they like you again then resume taunting untill the "gloves are off".
