I don't know whether it is just me but the mountain bear kicks ass when you use conjure animals. Tanks or what?.....

They have helped me to beat a lot of beholders and have just killed everything in the extra sooper dooper locked door in the Illithid city. The main brain, all the mind flayers and the Umber Hulks. I just stood there and let em get on with it.

I don't normally let summoned things do ALL my fighting for me but I was so P....d off with dying constantly doing this bit, that I just let em do their stuff.

What do you lot think?

Hmm, the mountain bear? Cant say I've heard of that one.
But it sounds good, so maybe I'll try a game with a conjurer?

I'm pretty new to the game and never heard of mountain bears...but I get along well enough with Wyverns and Skeleton Warriors. Also Ithilids...like when you mind-control them...having 2 of them in my party was gauranteed death for anyone unfortunate enough to get in my way in the Ithilid lair.

Hiya

I should have been a bit more specific shouldn't I?

The spell is Conjure Animals and I think it is 5th level spell.

Imoen, Jaheira and Aerie have about four or five each in their spellbooks.

I don't even have to ask them to conjure these as I have Jaheira on summoning script and the other two on offensive spells script.

My favourite spell for sure, well so far anyway.

I find a lot of the time in the middle of battle the normal spells my mages cast take too long or they don't even work, but the summoning is fairly rapid.

I tend to prefer tank tactics as my main character (Lady Zidane) is a level 16 archer,
with Imoen who is level 13,
Aerie who is level 13 cleric and level 13 mage,
Jaheira who is level 13 fighter, level 13 druid,
Mazzy who is level 17 fighter
and last but definitely not least Keldorn who is level 15 Inquisitor.

I must be doing something right, it has got me this far.

Hmm... can't say I remember ever using mountain bears... personally, though, I liked aerial servants/fire elems quite a lot... servants did something like 40 damage per hit and had good hp, and the elems... hp, good enough damage, and fire damage, meaning that they could get through various mage protections and disrupt spells... oh, and of course Planetars from ToB... those things are crazy... *grin* Any chance you could post the mountain bear stats (you might be able to find them with Infinity Explorer *shrug*)?

Wowza you have a lot of female members! I hate Jaheira so I always kill her early on. I've tried Aerie and really love her clerical/mage dual casting, but get annoyed with her snivelling and romantic overtures. No need for Nalia since Jan is, in my opinion, a superior thief. Imoen I sent back to the Copper Coronet solo (I hope she lived, but don't really care either way) after rescuing her. I decided early on to get Viconia in the party because I wanted to bring a real drow to the Underdark. *chuckle* No scripting either. Anomen is level 18 already, my main character Moridhe is a level 15 sorceror and the only dedicated wizard in the group. Minsc is my dedicated sniper and Valygar is a two-weapon death machine. No wonder I have no idea what Mountain Bear is like. Interesting how people build such radically different parties.

Cheers,

Moridhe
