Mage of Shadow:
The Mage had one great ability on his side in this world. When he became a demi-god being he gained the ability to be semi-omnipotent. His presence was not able to be everywhere, but where a link found him, he could be connected to that place through that link. Such a link found the mage today, when a creature of darkness used powers that were from the same strands of energy that the Mage was born from. He studyied this strange occurance. The link told him that a doorway into the shadows had been used by a creature that was unkown to him. It was a simple but pure use of the realm in which the very tower of Shadow was founded upon. Tha mage was wroth. First there had been clues that the whimpering Morgie-turned-Reaper could not be affected by certain powers of shadow, and now another creature was using the same dark weave of shadow magic to open doorways to walk between the tangeable world and the spiritual world. He dove deeper into his meditation to learn more of the events around the doorway usage. He was not pleased with what he saw. His best servant was nearby, possibly in trouble from this power...as well as some of Larry's old companions. Whatever was going on out there, it was not going to be a fun day for somebody. The mage could not allow this event to play out without intervention. His best servant was in danger and a creature that did not belong to him was using powers from "his" source. He sent a message to Nanashi, and instructed her as to how to kill the creature after it assisted her in destroying the comrades of Larry Silverfall. Nanashi She suddenly felt a surge of fear that lasted but a moment. Something nearby was watching her, and oddly enough it was not like anything she had sensed as of yet, though this day was fast proving to be the oddest day she had ever had. But as soon as her instincts had told her to flee for safety, her master communicated with her. He told her a plan to follow out. It was dangerous for her to remain in the area with this enemy, but she must do as she was bid. Dishonoring her pledge to the Mage would not be the right way to end this day. She was aware that the creature held some sort of special hunting techniques but she dismissed this advantage out of her mind as obsolete information. She was the daughter of the Shadow-Mage. And she would not fail him. |

Arcades swings his head around behind him and narrows his eyes. His perceptions were strong, but couldnt pierce the fabric between realms. Though he still sensed a presence moving through another realm, trying to get behind him.
When he was younger, he was taught the properties of Dragons Fire, how it had little respect for boundaries between worlds, and existed equally and simultaniously in multiple worlds. Drawing in breath, Arcades sets forth a stream of fire, creating a wall between the unseen presence and himself. "Come out of hiding, Creature, and face me." OOC: PM me if this needs any editing. |

There is a curious power about a whisper in the manner in which it might seize the attention and hold it despite the presence of more weighty and obvious sounds. The ear strains after its muted syllables, hoping to catch their meaning. And when only one ear among many feels the breath of a whisper against it, the whisper becomes a secret thing, a thing to be handled with quiet decision. And so it is that quiet syllables in a foreign tongue that is strangely familiar reach the ears of the one called Larry Silverfall, syllables not fully distinct within the sounds of rain and thunder and the voices of his companions whose arrival would seem to invite further listening.
Author: Cyril Larry He was waiting for the team to hurry up and get out of this rain, when a strange audible thing was heard in the whistling air. It certainly caught his attention, but he could not prove he had heard anything at all but the chaotic and howling winds. He pressed for his horse to venture nearer one of the guards that was to escort this group into the confines of the castle. [ 11-23-2004, 12:23 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

She is knocked forward, then bends over with the force of being hit, and swings her staff around, quickly kneeling on the floor as she is attacked by an unseen presence...
'this seems familiar....what IS it?...'she thinks to herself... she quickly pulls a runestone from her cloak, and tosses it to a certain spot on the floor, then pulls up the hood of her cloak... she whispers a single word and stands as the wind begins to swirl around her.. "I have no time for this nonsense, Mage.. I will return later....we will meet again, soon..." The winds swirl faster as she disappears into the rune.. the rune glows briefly with white-hot light and disappears also... OOC: She has disappeared back thru the portal to the spot outside the tavern..... hopefully the damn thing didn't follow me.... ![]() [ 11-23-2004, 10:00 PM: Message edited by: TAOWolf ] |

Wolf
The scene was still within the twilight realm, the Wolf knew this place, for one could say the Wolf was this place, and this place was within the Wolf. A burst of dragonsflame tore a hole through the veil before the Wolf, a long concetrated blast by a creature that well knew it could affect all realms simultaneously if it so desired. As the flame ended, before the rend could begin to heal between the worlds, another piece of spirit lore was activated. A darkness that was so complete it could be physically felt, and left an unclean oily feeling on whatever it touched, burst from the hole between worlds. And the man-wolf with the mangled arm, and twisted foot was through the portal slashing at the greatest of beasts. Several scales came away during the physical onslaught, but blood had not yet been drawn. OOC: the blackness is a 20' cube that exudes corruption, and a slight feeling of malevolence, even a dragons eyes are unable to pierce it, although other senses are still fully active. Hmm, thought the bard, meh, what's the worst that could happen. And he flipped the lever into the upright position, drawing his daggers, and looking down both side of the corridor. |

Arcades roars as he feels his scales ripped from his body. Using his sense of smell to counter the Darkness, he brings down his talons on where the smell of the Wolf was strongest. His paw forces the wolf onto his back and slams him into the ground with enough force to to snap a rib or two.
Arcades keeps the creature trapped and breathes a jet of flame over the approximate location of where the wolf's head is, burning his eyes and face. The intense flames do little to the dragon's flesh, as he is quite resistant to his own fire. [ 11-24-2004, 12:05 PM: Message edited by: ArcadesSabboth ] |

For Tao: As you find yourself safe from further harm and out of the Tower of Shadow (Only your character enjoys that luxery at this time) you are aware of one important thing of interest. You are not casting a shadow. Your intellegence is high enough for you to quickly devise a theory that somehow the Mage was able to rip your shadow from you and then turn it against you which gave you cause to flee the tower.
You never saw THAT coming, did you? Lol! I did not come up with this strategy myself. It can be found in the trilogy by Troy Denning, one of my favorite authors, in the series called the "Return of the Archwizards". A story about the mages of shadow magic taking over the world. |

For Roderik: Upon contemplating this move for days, and then finally leaving it up to the fates to decide, the DM is ready to elaborate on the consequence of your move at using the lever.
You hear a rumbling sound, followed by a vibration in the ground under your feet. Just when you had decided that you wished that you had not pulled the lever, a doorway opens up in the wall in front of you. Inside the new room, you see a faint glow. The light source cannot be discovered, but you see a stairway leading up. You know that you are still on the dungeon level, and from the lore bonus you have, you would know that there are two levels of dungeons. It is your guess at which one of the two you are in as to where the staircase leads. |

Wolf
Scorched by the flame, the fur, ears, and much of the finer features of the Wolf vanish beneath the fury of the inferno. Raw reddened flesh continues to try and claw the dragon while pinned beneath it, while the fangs bite deeply into the foot, the small pinprick suddenly feels crippling as a sickness spreads from the source of the pain. The strength seems to vanish from the Wolf beneath you, and with a sickening crunch you realise the struggling wolf had become a goblin of slight strength, and now significantly flatter form. |
