OOC: But of course cous
![]() ![]() --- Aenyral gave Keal a strange look, "'Eye-ore'?" he repeats, then shakes his head. Then he smiled secretatively to himself, "Good luck? I already found one... although, I may end up sharing with one other, I tell you now, it won't be you." He grinned to take the sting off his words. Walking to his 'own' cabin, Aenyral called over his shoulder, "We all have secrets in the past; but its just that; the past. So do be a good boy and keep your nose out of other people's affairs. I have no secrets that will be of any interest to you, nor do I intend for you to find out. You certainly won't by spying on me get changed. However, I do desire privacy. It is nothing unusual, so, kindly leave me be. I have to unpack... why not go pester Neko?" Aenyral half closed the door to his cabin and put his own bag down, an old leather satchel with a couple of additional pockets and straps. Aenyral sighed to himself, 'That one is nosy. I hope he does not interfere... I would not want to see him hurt... especially if the past catches up to me.' He frowned, his eyes narrowing, and then he shook his head, contemplating on past events. 'I should never have let her go... I may well have killed her myself... my hands are stained with the blood of others... and yet, I hope it was enough... at least they will harm no others...' --- OOC: Edit: Just to let everyone know, any important points i.e. any asterisks' are marked in "*" Edit 2: "Gaki" is the nickname for my character Keal, "Neko" is Skydracgrrl's, k? ![]() [ 09-08-2004, 04:35 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ] |

ooc- luckily i convinced Cal to change his post, otherwise there would be a very interesting response to Keal's last post....
Keal, i suggest editing your post, because you just asked Aenyral (aka Gaki) how he plans on getting dressed... not my character, Konneke (aka Neko) ![]() ![]() ic- Konneke ignored Keal's questions for a moment, bending over to pull off her boots and stick her throwing knife through her belt. Grabbing hold of the nearest post, she started to scale up the fore mast. Hooking her legs over the metal pickets sticking out of the beam, she swung backwards so that she was looking at Keal, her face level with his albeit upside down. "Exactly how I plan on getting dressed and sleeping is really none of your business, I think. I appreciate you not telling anyone, but do you really believe I've gotten along this far without others finding out, and haven't figured out a way to do those things? In any case, by the time I am discovered - and that's only if I'm found out, mind you - I hope for us to be too far out at sea for anyone to be able to do anything about it." She paused and removed her cap. "G'day," she said with an upside down mock salute with her cap. And, placing the cap back firmly onto her upside down head, Konneke swung herself back up and proceeded to nimbly climb up the rest of the way until she reached the yard of the topmost sail. Agilely climbing a little ways out onto it, her toes clinging with dexterous ability to the sail ropes wrapped about it, she reached up to grab the backstay. Konneke remained there, looking out over the sea’s horizon, with her body rising and falling gently with the waves, the yard bearing her slight weight. She sighed, her emerald eyes narrowed thoughtfully as she peered off into the distance. Always look forward, never back. The past only holds pain and loneliness the determined thought washed through her head. A memory the colour of blood and filled with the scent of lilies drifted towards the surface of her mind, but she quickly clamped it down back into the depths of her subconsciousness. After one more long look at the watery horizon, Konneke slowly made her way back down to the deck below. ooc- arr, me 'arteys!! Here be some links to some nautical terms, arr! OOC: "Convinced"? you mean "asked"
![]() ![]() --- As Konneke made her way below, Aenyral was waiting for her, "Greetings. Fancy meeting you here. It's been such a long time since we talked..." he smiled, his tone filled with droll amusment. "Tell me, have you found a cabin yet? I happened to chance upon one and claim it... I fear I may have to end up sharring with someone however. To be honest, I'd rather it was with you then with the old man, or the burgundy coat. Don't get me wrong, you're just the lesser of I'm not sure how many evils." Aenyral smiled again, "No offense mind you. Of course, if there are spare cabins, then it shouldn't be a problem, but just in case, perhaps you would not mind bunking with me?" |

ooc- *jumps around excitedly* ooh, ooh, lookit! *points at spiffy wicked cool new dragon avatar* I LOOOOVEEEE dragons!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ic- Konneke looked at Aenyral for a moment, weighing the decision carefully in her mind. He's not onto me, is he? Keal figured it out pretty quickly, and Aenyral looks sharper than him... but I think he would've said something... Well, if I'm going to step off this cliff I might as well leap. Either way it's going to hurt "Sure, I guess. It won't bother me any, if it doesn't bother you... but if there happens to be an empty cabin left over, I hope you don't mind me using that instead." Konneke smirked slightly. "No offense, but I'm more of a stand-offish sort... I'm sure you know where I'm coming from." If Aenyral had been paying close attention, he may have noticed the searching look and brief pause Konneke gave him before replying. It had only taken a split second and could easily have gone unnoticed. |

OOC: Hehe. Well, you *are* Skydracgrrl... btw, very interesting links btw
![]() --- Aenyral smiled, slightly more darkly then before, "And that's why I asked you to bunk with me, my dear baka Neko. You at least seem to have the decency to understand privacy... that way, I won't be clawing out my cabinmate's eyes as he pries into everything." He laughed, a short, sharp laugh. "If there is a spare cabin left over, you are more then welcome to it. More room for me. Room and privacy are valued items, you know." his smile returned, his eyes searching as he caught her split second look for half an instant, but not altogether sure if he had imagined it or not. "They say, that when you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you, and you can judge a man's soul by his deeds, for the way to hell is pathed with good intentions. I wonder what this voyage will be like, Neko. Something to think about." With yet another smile and a slight bow of his head, Aenyral walked into his cabin, saying no more, other then, "I doubt you need a hand settling in, but if so, just say." Konneke will notice a single white lily inside a vase on one of the bookshelves if she enters the cabin. |

Konneke watched Aenyral disappear into his cabin. Our cabin she reminded herself. Shrugging to herself, she bent down to pull her boots back on and slip her knife back into its usual spot. Picking up the small canvas bag, containing what few things she owned, she strode into the room after him. A small blotch of white teased the corner of her eye and she turned to see what it was. She immediately stopped walking, frozen to the spot at the sight of the white lily. Her face rapidly went through many emotions before she could bring herself back under control.
Knowing that Aenyral probably noticed her reaction, Konneke strode over to the flower. "Is this yours?" she asked, touching a petal delicately. "I didn't know they were in bloom yet. It was a bad way to cover up for what happened earlier, but Konneke hoped he wouldn't say anything about it. |

Aenyral had a strange expression on his face as he turned from viewing the porthole, "Why yes... it is. Do you like it?" he asked, his tone open and friendly, but his eyes guarded, "I often take one flower... where I can find it. It supposedly brings good luck, and perhaps, will keep the air fresh..." it wasn't a total lie, but it wasn't the whole truth either, and Konneke, if she had any wits would realise this. "There is another reason, of course, but it is tied in with that 'long story' I mentioned earlier. You know, the one about the prince, the princess and of course the evil villian." Aenyral's eyes hardened, "It serves as a reminder of the past, and that life is fragile, and just as a flower wilts, and dies, changing, so does life. To enjoy it whilst you can, to savour every breath, look forward to the future, move on, and relish the present. After all, the next breath you draw might be your last. But why worry?" Aenyral smiled sadly, "After all, you can't protect everyone..." he fell silent, knowing he'd said too much.

Konneke was glad that her back was to Aenyral, so that he was not able to see the heartachingly sad expression on her face. "Its-" she stopped and cleared the lump from her throat. "It's pretty. She... I knew... um, that is, I better go see if the captain needs me to start working yet," she said hurriedly, spinning around and walking out before Aenyral could say anything else, let alone see her face. What he had been saying was striking a little too close to home for Konneke. A bit of hard labour will do me good she decided, striding up to the captain with a determined look. "I'm ready to start my duties, Cap'n," she said.

"Thank you..." he whispered to her departing form. "Kaenko, you would have liked it..." he sighed, closing his eyes and remembering distant memories, all to afresh in his mind's eye. "Yes, there was a dragon... a beast he was, but not the sort you were thinking of Neko... this one was a human." His tone was barely more then a murmur, the smallest whisper. Aenyral toyed with his teardrop sapphire earring for a moment, and then left it alone. "Lilies... as white and pure as you were. And just as beautiful..."

Bakilas makes his way down to the cabins and opens one of the doors, passing Konneke on the way. Looking in he sees someone already inhabits this room. Ignoring Keal he throws his sack under a bunk and places his dagger into the bed.
