This is the start up thread for the vampires in the White Wolf RP, Any Humans will also start here.

It was New Years Eve, 1998AD. The crowds were overly loud, drunken, and foolish. Things were going badly for the vampires as a whole, while stocks were up and city officials were as easily bribed and controlled as ever something had been revealing covens to various groups interested in destroying the vampires. A few vampires had gathered in a safehouse, a casino run by a powerful elder, artificial lighting and multiple doors kept any real light outside and massive ghouls(humans who have partaken of vampire blood and gained some powers without the resulting weaknesses) guarded the place.

In a back room a private card game was being played, vampires who would normally have worked to discredit each other, and worked at political machinations against the clans of the others were calmly playing cards, a casual observer would not have noticed anything odd, except perhaps a pale complexion shared by all at the table. The voices were casual but there was a depth behind the obvious, they were speaking in a code known to most vampires, a sort of slang that was meaningless if one lacked the proper frame of reference.

OOC ok here's the deal, the people that have already posted vampire characters are at the table with the elder, and one bodyguard(just outside the door) The elder appears to be a boy, barely 17, but he has an aura of power and wisdom, not to mention a callous exterior that indicates he would rather sacrifice a couple hundred pawns than be forced into acting directly against whatever has been assaulting the vampires. The city is Vegas. So far all that's been covered is that the vampire hunters aren't one of the known groups, the Inquisition (an off the books organization of the Catholic church that never stopped searching for supernaturals even after it officially ended), Project Twilight (a government organization similar to the X-Files), or the Lupines (werewolves), and the hunters strike in ways that don't make sense for vampires or their servants to attack.

Introduce your characters and let the bloodletting begin.

Dec. 10/1998: I have no idea where I belong anymore.
I had been attacked that night by being dragged from my car when I had stopped at a stop sign on that dark road that was to lead me home from my friend's house where we had been practicing our band numbers for the upcoming talent show at Church that weekend. The dark robed figure had pulled me out of the car and had dragged me for a ways into the woods close by. I tried to fight back but it seemed not to effect my assailant in the least. Finally, after being dragged out of sight from the road, the attacker had turned on me and clamped down on my neck, biting a gash and began to drink my blood from my body. I quickly became disoriented and felt very sleepy. I tried to reach up and pull the head away from me but my arms had no strength. I felt with my fingertips the silky black hair that hung in my face and tickled my nose. Then the attacker rose up from me and grinned an awful grin with a blood-soaked mouth. My attacker was but a young woman! She looked on me in a strange way, as though she had not seen me but just now, and kneeled beside me. She whispered into my ear strange words in a foreign accent, then said in a broken English that she was going to give me the gift she had been given long ago. She again assaulted my neck and drained more from me, and just as I began to fade away, I felt wetness upon my lips. I hungrily drank this refreshment as I was very parched, and my body ached to be made whole again. She again whispered to me, told me to stay away from the sun and told me never to seek my family or friends or they would all be killed. She asked if I understood and I tried to nod, but could not feel my head if it moved or not.

I awoke later that night. The sky seemed brighter than it had ever been. I was scared and sick. I felt like vomiting, but never could. I was cold. I was aware of many things that night that I do not need to go into now. As I sit here, writing this into my journal that I decided to keep of my story, I find that it has been one week since this has happened to me. I hide in the daytime wherever I can. At night, I try to find things like rabbits or squirrels to feed on. It is disgusting and makes me sick to do so, but I must, because I am so hungry, and the blood makes the pain go away and also makes me feel more at ease. I am afraid of what I might do to others. People I mean. I cannot attack and kill a person! Those people have families that love them!

I wish I could see my family. I miss them so much, but every once in a while, I feel that I am being watched. I feel that what the lady said was true...that if I go back, I will be bringing death to them all. I avoid the newspapers and TV because I do not want to see or hear of their pain for my unexplained loss. It would drive me crazy.

So...I sit here. Wondering what I am supposed to do now. Wondering where others are like me, and what do they do all night, or where do they sleep at day. How did they become what they are. Things like that.

Well, the sun is to be rising in little under an hour. I am too afraid to wait around too late, because I have a feeling what would happen to me if I did. Maybe I should embrace the sun. Maybe that is the only right thing to do...but I cannot. I am afraid of the pain I suppose.

Until next time, if I am still on this Earth.

Storm Winters

================================================== =============================

Dec. 23/1998: A few nights ago, I had been hanging out at Wal-mart and just walking through the isles because I was bored. I had decided that I needed some clothes, so I had beat up some rich dude when he was getting into his Mercedes and took his cash. $490! I didn't kill him, I just broke an arm and had let him go. I was so strong! I would never have been able to do that before the turn came about, but now I was strong and fast! I don't even think he got a look at my face! That is good. I did not want the police looking for me. That would be my luck that I would be arrested and held in jail until the sun met me in the morning.
Well, it has been cold, and even though I am technically a monster now, I can still feel cold. So, I wanted some new clothes. I had begun to smell really bad with all the dried animal blood on my clothes and not bathing and stuff, so I decided to clean up. If this was to be my life (can I say that?), then I would not live like a street-trash bum. I was too good for that. So, I went to Wal-mart.
I bought a nice pair of black jeans, some black work-boots, and a black button-up shirt with a black necktie. I also picked up a long black coat that comes down to my ankles. I felt like a true villain then. I even grabbed some sunshades just to go all out. Hell, it was not my money I was spending. Walking out of the store, I just messed around in the parking lot for a while, looking at people walking or sitting in their cars. Did I miss being normal? Well, this certainly was feeling a bit better, I remember thinking. But then there was always the matter of blood. I never felt hungry, except for the red liquid. I had thought about drinking from a human, but I could not bring myself to murder anyone. I mean, they are people!

That is when I saw them. Four strange-looking guys checking me out. I did not like what I saw in them, so I walked home. The sun was coming out in four hours, and I had already got lucky with a deer that I happened to come across. I was ready to turn in.

When I awoke, I was no longer in North Carolina. I had been told that the four guys I met were something called "ghouls", that had followed me home and brought me to Nevada that morning. I have been spending time with this guy that has been telling about stuff about my kind. Vampires, I mean. He laughs at me for not drinking from what he calls "kine", as though people were some sort of cattle. I have no idea what they see in me and I am quite repulsed by the attitudes of these gentlemen, as they have tried to tell me what I should be, and I find their mannerisms repulsive. I find myself this night, in my room, ready to go down to the casinos where something is going on. I have been invited to look my best and take part in thier meeting. I guess I had better get down there now.

Oh...I forgot to mention. I learned that the lady that turned me into this thing has been killed by Werewolves! They call them Lupines. Damn! Those things really exist! I hope my family is okay.

Storm

Storm walked down from his upstairs apartment and joined the table of vampires where a conversation and game was already taking place. He sat there, waiting on some queue from his new "teacher" on what he was to be doing.

The table consisted of a number of vampires that had been palying cards for a quite some time. Among them was a tall lithe fellow with long blond hair pulled back and a slight english accent, he was wearing a tuxedo at the heigt of fashion. Though seemingly only playing cards, his big blue eyes constantly scanned his surroundings. The large stack of chips in front of him told observers that he was either fabulously well off, or winning big tonight. Though the others at the table were chatting amongst themselves the blond fellow hadn't said a word for over 20 minutes. Merely frowning his displeasure whenever anyone tried to include him in the conversation. He definitely seemed like he would much rather be someplace else. His cell phone rang and he put down his cards and picked it up. He walked away from the table and spoke in a low tone so no one was able to hear his conversation. It was then that he saw a vampire that looked in his mid twenties enter. The vampire was wearing all black clothes, and sunglasses. The blond haired vampire burst out laughing at him and then turned away from him facing the other direction talking nearly inaudibly on his cell phone.

OOC>>> I hope it's ok if I start posting here

Mistral

"So... any plans for tonight, Mistral?"

It's a harmless question, really. No need to read into it too much. ~ She turned slowly, and when she faced her colleague, the smile on her face felt genuine.

"I haven't decided yet, actually... and what are you doing, Giselle?" ~ Don't tell me, let me guess. You'll be spending it over a cosy dinner with your boyfriend, just as Maggie will be popping over to her in-laws' with her family... everyone has a plan, and... oh drat, why couldn't I have made one earlier?

The answer was quite simple.

She had not cared enough at that time.

Day in and day out, she had slogged her guts out for this crummy job at Wal-Mart's and though she could not exactly say it went unrewarded, she had an uncomfortable feeling that the benefits were not commensurate with the sacrifices she had put in.

At least I'm not a checkout girl... ~ She sighed as she zipped up her handbag and slung it over her right shoulder, her left hand absent-mindedly tucking a wisp of curl behind the ear.

"Are you okay, Mistral?

"Huh?... uh, yeah. I'm fine." ~ She bit her lip in embarassment ~ "You have a great time, yeah? And see you on the 2nd." ~ Hastily, she waved goodbye and strided out of the room, not wanting to attract any more of these distressing questions.

Out in the streets, couples were laughing, lovers were having bear-hugs, friends were joking loudly and everyone was headed somewhere.

What about me?

Sighing, she continued on her aimless walk, avoiding eye-contact with any specific person.

Bakilas Lamort

Bakilas watched the room and the people in it as he switched the card in his hand with another that had been hidden in his sleeve, he then noticed the person who now entered the room. Bakilas looked like any normal human would, as long as that human had expensive tastes. He wore an expensive suit and his expensive watch just seemed to scream out that its owned loved the power that money gave him.

With a grin at the new vampire Bakilas returns to the card game.

The vampire running the meeting made introductions as the last participants gathered. He wore an antiquated business suit and fedora, but his sunglasses were the newest Oakleys. Everything about the man-monster spoke of power and confidence, he was completely in control and he knew it, the other members assembled could feel it as well, and knew that a wrong move would result in a fast trip to the final death.

As the game continued a young woman entered the room, she appeared to be slightly disoriented and not quite aware of her surroundings. "Drink up friends, the night is young and you'll need your strength before the night is through" He glanced meaningfully at Storm as he spoke, and his lip curled in what was either mockery or amusement.

Rumor around the table had identified the vampire as Orrick, a very old vampire who had turned his back on both the Camarrilla, and the Sabbat, feeling that both groups were fools and doomed to destroy each other in their endless Jyhad. He was believed to be powerful enough to take over as prince of the city, but he preferred his time alone and his control over others, and being prince would take too much time away from his own studies and power brokering.

With the entrance of Orrick, Cornelius abruptly ended his cell phone conversation. Though arrogant himself, he knew much better than to get on the bad side of this one. With the entrance of the disoriented girl, he smiled coyly. He picked up a glass and grabbed her wrist. He adeptly slit the vein in her wrist with a ring he was wearing on his right index finger. The ring stretched the length of his finger and an inch an a half beyond ending in a sharp point. With practiced movements he managed to catch all the blood in the cup, dropping the arm once it was full. He sipped casually out of the cup watching the other vampires and taking in his surroundings, wondering what was next.

Thalali sat down at the table. He had black hair and dark green eyes. He was wearing all black and seemed very nervous. He hadn't been a vampire very long and it freaked him out to see so many. He sat their and waited. When a lady came out and a vampire drew blood from her he felt nausiated. He may have drank blood before, but that was only too keep him alive. He just waited for someone to speak, hoping someone wasn't going to really kill him.

"Welcome friends you may or may not know why you are here tonight but that is of little consequence, what matters is that I know why you are here, and the continued existance of a great many kindred (vampire term for vampires) hinges on what you do in the next few days. It has come to my attention that one Vlad Draculi XVII is cultivating information on this matter, he is a member of the Tzimisce so expect a cold bastard, and despite what he may promise, don't let him mold you." When several of the younger Kindred looked confused he added, "Tzimisce devils are known for remodelling the interiors, exteriors, anteriors(and anything else that may amuse them at the moment) of their guests, prisoners, and servants."

The elder gave quick directions, and called for a limo to arrive the next night 15 minutes after sundown. He then asked if anyone had any other questions for him, and informed the group that as long as they were discreet they were free to feed from the majority of the guests of his casino.

For Mistral

As she walked home the air was warm and a slight smell of burnt leaves that was so common in the fall tickled her nose, the sidewalk was dirty, as usual, and an old woman was pushing a shopping cart down the street, it appeared to be filled with all of her worldly possessions, and as you pass you see her face and you contain a gasp at her ugliness, her face covered with warts and what looks like an overbite that would put a crocodile to shame.

ooc you haven't made a disgusted/startled gasp and you can react to her in any way you wish including not reacting and going about your business.
