LILYBLACK (She finds the gray man in his laboratory.) "Mouse, look! I am wounded. Can you heal me?"

(Concerned, he examines the slash. He then casts several healing spells, none of which work, except to make the edges of the wound puse more brightly with the sickly blue. The wound continues to ooze blood. He gives her several potions to drink, but the results are the same. Dressings are applied, but slowly become soaked in blood. Finally, he shakes his head.}

GRAY MOUSER "It is no use, Misling. Nothing that I can do seems to help. And, you are slowly losing blood. We shall have to seek help at the Temple of Set, in Calimport. I shall transport us there."

SIR BLANDAMOUR (The next morning, they arrive at Sir Mandracus' rooms. He is in an extremely good mood, Eliza indeed having been grateful last night, and proving it. She is all blushes and smiles this morning, also.) "Ho, Sir Mandracus, I hope and trust that you slept well. Do you have any news for us on that amulet?"

SIR MANDRACUS (with a thin smile)"Not so well as I would guess that you did, but well enough, thank you. Yes, I was able to establish contact with the power controlling that amulet, and it was not a pleasant meeting. It was indeed the lich, Peven, who was controlling the gargoyle. He is furious with hatred of you, demanding the child and the mother. Why he continues to want Lady Roxanne, I have no idea. More children, perhaps, so that he may try again if this one does not work as he schemes? Ah, well, no matter, we must keep both of them out of his clutches. That is all that I know. As for the amulet, it is a very evil thing, and I have destroyed it. Can I assist you in any other way? No? Well, then, I have other researches. Good day."

"Agreed. We will each use the other to enter the stronghold and then go our separate ways once inside."

Aric looked to the lady to gauge her reaction. ~An enticing trollop....I could just let the elf get captured and claim her as my prize instead....{he shakes his head to rid himself of such thoughts}...Bah, what am I thinking? A night or two of pleasure is a poor trade for the price offered on the mage's head. Let the elf have his prize -- if he manages to find his friend AND live long enough to enjoy it.~

As he clears his thoughts, the look on Sorsha's face shows that she strongly suspects what they were. Time to "turn on the charm". He regains his professional demeanor and bows slightly to Sorsha.

"I still see doubt in your eyes, mi'lady", He reaches out and takes one of here hands in his, "I give you my pledge again that no harm shall befall you, especially not from myself. As a Hunter, my reputation is my most valuable asset and I do not give my word lightly (especially for free). Be assured that I will give you and your love the full measure of my aid until we have safely entered the stronghold. After that, by his request, we shall part company and you will no longer be worried with my presence." He gently kisses her hand, then turns to Legolas.

"I am ready when you are. Lead on, and I will follow."

SIR BLANDAMOUR (When they are back on the street, he turns to his companions) "Well, here is a riddle. I don't know what to do. Do we seek out this Peven to kill him? Or, I suppose, make him die the True Death? Or shall we search for this unknown whom I have wounded, mayhap unto death? What is your advice?"

Castor, who hadn't said a word since the encounter with the gargoyle and had indeed been caught up in a depressing stream of thoughts, lifted his head. Somehow sadness seemed to radiate from him, and indeed the lights circling his armour appeared a lot dimmer.

"Why don't we all go after the lich. So far, I count four people dead, not including that stone creature, since I joined."

"A gargoyle, Castor"

"Yes, a Gargoyle. I'm saying, we might as well go kill another. Gotta do what you're best at, eh?"

He closed his mouth and let his mind drift off again, eyes staring forward unseeing. A look of concern crossed Vino's face as he guided his master to their horse.

OOC: I imagine the mood chance may seem a bit odd, but Castor knew the 'bandit' and is upset about his death. He'll get over it though

ELIZA(Looks sharply at Castor) "I am inclined to agree. We cannot have any more of this persecution of Lady Roxanne. Besides, we haven't a clue where to find this would-be poisoner. Do we know aught of this Peven? Surely, one of such shall have been talked of."

(The Gray Mouser and Lilyblack are transported to the Temple of Set in Calimport. There, they are examined by an old friend of the Mouser's, the High Priest, Donkle, an expert on curses and healing. After casting several spells, with no success, he summons a tanari'i, who turns out to be a beautiful succubus. She, with a lascivious leer at the Mouser, informs them that the wound has no Lower Planar origins, but rather draws its power from Mount Celestia. "It cannot be cured except by the one that inflicted it, like any curse," she states with glee. "And, since you" indicating the Mouser, "are shortly to be short a woman, summon me any time. My name is Dollabella." Dismissed, she vanishes.
The Mouser turns with woe on his face to his love, and says, "You see how it is, Misling. We must go to this Blandamour and seek his help. I know not what conditions he may place on it, but it seems we have no choice."

SIR BLANDAMOUR "I suppose that you are right. Let us ask around and see ifwe can hear any rumor of him. I would not want to visit Kinn'zuwannik again, without any lever to use on him, for Sir Guilliam told me that the vase has been sent to him. He would lie for the pleasure of sending us on a wild goose chase. No, this place is a center for rumors and gossip. We are sure to hear something."

OOC>> All right, since no one is asking around, I'll give it a push start. IC>>
SIR BLANDAMOUR (After several days of fruitless searching, he and Eliza come into a tavern where an ancient-appearing wizard is looking anxiously at an empty wine glass.)

Sorsha

The brief glint in Aric's eyes had sufficed to suffocate her with unease, so much so that her hand had trembled visibly at the touch of his lips ~ I might be too suspicious, but well may it be that you reveal yourself as yet another villain. ~ Her heart was constricted and she drew her hand away hurriedly, her eyes seeking the elf's reassuring smile for comfort.

How lucky I am, to have met many decent people so far... and best of all, Legolas. ~ Images of the past danced before her glistening eyes ~ But the NOW is what matters most. Urgent matters await us, and I cannot expect calm and predictability all the time. ~ With renewed courage, she willed herself to smile innocently at no one in particular, speaking softly again almost to herself.

"Time to move on."
