Holy Temple of Aerie 11 - the Stormy Mountains

Shino saw nothing but a dozen elves in the shadow with their longbows aimed at him. A wrong move meant a dozen arrows of ice would converge on him.
Suddenly Avy appeared behind him (moves rather fast with boots of lightening speed).
"another intruder?"
Shino felt a tiny tickle on his neck but turning around realized it was a razor sharp crystal rapier edge against his flesh.

"soo... are you ready to explain urself?"

In the distance a tall, handsome and bare-chinned stranger with golden-brown skin and long, black hair approached, dressed in robes such as were worn by the menfolk of Seres, a great kingdom two years away on horseback in the direction of the East. A great glowing katana could be seen slung on his back, almost as long as he was tall, with strange but beautiful writings etched into the metal along the full length of the blade.

Chiao Fung had been travelling for many moons now. When shall he ever find what he seeks? As he pondered this, he suddenly noticed a number of figures several dozen paces ahead. Looking more carefully, he made out two human-looking beings surrounded by a number of elves with bows, one of whom was up close behind one of the two, with a weapon pointed against his neck.

Chiao Fung ran closer. "Friends," he cried, "what transpires here that such violent confrontation should be resorted to? Can there be no room for peaceable negotiation?"

Almost instantly the longbows were all directed towards Chiao Fung. "Who be you, intruder?" barked one of the elves. "Identify yourself, or die!"

"You may address me as Chiao Fung, friends," came the gentle but firm reply. "I am but a wanderer set on a personal quest."

"Cut the courteous pretense!" barked the same elf again. "Any fool can see that you're part of the reinforcements summoned by those swine!" He turned to the other elves. "Kill him!"

A hail of ice-arrows shot towards the amazingly calm Chiao Fung, who lifted a hand to his lips and began to whisper an incantation. Without warning the katana on his back shot forth like a zigzagging bolt of power, intercepting all the arrows with blinding speed before flying to the elves and chopping their weapons into splinters. The katana then shot back onto Chiao Fung's back.

"We're no match for this foe!" screamed the elves, now totally disarmed. "Hurry, flee!" Before long, they were gone, leaving only Avatar and Shino behind.

Chiao Fung smiled and walked towards Shino and Avatar. "Greetings, strangers, I'm Chiao Fung," he said, a fist cupped in the other hand. "I trust you have not been harmed. Who are you? And could anyone explain to me what had happened?"

(ooc> Chiao Fung [pronounced 'Chee-ow Foong' ] is a neutral good human character. The powers of his katana -- his only weapon/magic item -- are as follows:

~ can fly at enormous speed (let's say twice as fast as an average crossbow bolt).

~ semi-sentient -- can act on its own to help wielder e.g. attack an assassin who's sneaking up on wielder.

~ glows with a strong light that can illuminate up to 30 feet (and can be turned off).

~ can sense danger and warn wielder.

~ +6 to hit/damage, with 10% chance/attack of scoring a critical hit.

~ can be remote-controlled by wielder's mind, so wielder can will it to fly to an enemy and attack.

In addition, Chiao Fung knows how to cast heal serious wounds and a protective power shield on himself and others.

Any problem? If you feel that he's too powerful, I can 'tone' him down somewhat. )

IC: From the distance, a silhouette of a cloaked figure approaches. The cloak hides his bodily appearance and features, yet he does not appear to be hostile as he is taking slow, patient strides towards the three people ahead. He is of medium build, and as he draws closer you notice his eyes are a pale blue. He lowers his hood, showing he is a Half-Elven male. He looks to Shiro and Avatar, and then to Chiao.

He nods. "Well met my friend, I am Alasdair Shadowheart. I've come seeking safe haven, and thought I was getting there until I saw your rather unique... Performance, if you will." He grins and looks to the others. "What is this place? I've been following the wind for many a nights passing and stumbled across this temple." He then grips the hilt of his blade, which seems to glow a bit upon touch, and pushes it back so he may kneel. "I do hope the three of us have not made too much of a raucous here." He says with a smile.

OOC: Alasdair Shadowheart [pronounced: Aluz-Dare] is a Half-Elven Rogue, travelling wherever the winds may take him. Though he has the main characteristics of your typical rogue, you'll find that there is more to Alasdair than meets the eye. Will not place himself in a dispute unless provoked or threatened, especially if a friend is threatened. Other than that, he would much rather talk amongst friends, sipping a bottle of elven wine.

Carries a magical weapon, "Moonblade"
-Moonblade is a magically enhanced longsword which can only be held by Alasdair. Upon request the sword finds its way back to the hand of Shadowheart. Under a full moon it glows a pale blue and emits a faint hum.

IC- Skye walked in, stifling a yawn, while rubbing her rumpled chestnut braided hair. "What's all this rucus about?" the violet eyed half elf asked. Spotting the three newcomers, she smiled and introduced herself. "Hiya, I'm Skye, a half elf bladebard. And who might you three be? Not here to cause any disturbances, I hope." She bowed slightly out of politeness, then addressed Avy while waiting for their answers. "How is the other visitor doing? Do you need my help with anything? Give me some coffee and I'll get right at it." She looked at both the cat-eared creature and the robed one with curiousity. "Both of you dress somewhat similar to the people I lived with in the East. You must have traveled a long time... I hope nothing has happened there." She looked at the cat-eared creature's boots, the robed one's sword, and the half-elf's slightly glowing hands with interest.

Alasdair stands and nods to the half-elven lady with a smile. "We mean no disturbance m'lady, I seek shelter as I am in a rather...unfamiliar land. "I've been travelling from the Northernlands you see and came across this place, noticing this one's rather strange entrance," He chuckles, examining Shiro's boots. "And of course this man's swordplay."

"Perhaps you could tell me about this place? And perhaps I may rest here night, as the road has been rather unwelcoming." While awaiting her reply he thinks to himself "How odd that the three of us arrive at the same time, and under most unusual of circumstances..."

Chiao Fung smiled at Skye. "Yes, it is indeed true that I am from a land far in the East." He turned around to look at all the new faces. "Oh, and for those of you who have yet to know me, I am Chiao Fung, a traveller on a personal quest. It is truly a delight to get to know so many friends today. And this temple... it looks magnificent indeed... But who were those assailants? What did they want, and could they return?"

[Talthus]

OOC: hey all, I'm glad to see there are some active people in this place. well, now to get down to business.

IC: Off in the distance, you can only just make out the shape of a person slowly walking towards you. He only seems like a black shape at first but as he gets closer you realize his incredible height. He seems to be covered in a black cloak which covers all but his face which he keeps tilted towards the ground ahead of him. The cloak is trimmed with what seem to be symbols of an ancient elven language which none of you can read. The figure slowly walks towards you and you can see only half of his face. He's only about 50 metres from you now and you can make out two black spiked gauntlets with a red stone at the top - middle of each. The man is also carrying what appears to be an incredibly large sword on his back. He walks up to you and slowly raises his head to reveal nothing but a pair of two ice cold, grey eyes staring at all of you. You also notice a large, verticle scar on the left side of his face from his forehead, over his eye, and down to his chin. His piercing cold stare moves from person to person as he scans the group.

"I am the one they call Talthus. I am looking for lodging for the night and a warm meal if possible."

OOC: Talthus (Pronounced Tal-thus [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) is an incredibly bulky elf standing a full height of 6'7". He is a fighter-barbarian, part wood elf, and part wild elf with firey red hair just past his shoulders, originating in the North-West but growing up in the North after raiders attacked his home. He doesn't like jokers much and will only tolerate them if they have gained his respect (which few have managed to do in the past). He angers easily and enjoys the thrill of battle although he will not openly admit it.

He has an Iron Golem sword named "Starfell" which is black and has silver runes engraved into the length of the blade (which is about 4.5' long). The sword can cast Stoneskin once a day and stagger 3 times a day.
He has a cloak of arrow and fire deflection which is black with runes along the trim.
He also has a black furred, silver eyed wolf familiar who rarely comes into view unless Talthus calls him (just needs to whistle).

The wolf isn't in sight yet btw.
