OK, looking through the forum, lots of people say that Kangaxx is the toughest fight...for me I have to disagree, I whooped his ass so easily. So, I was wondering if anyone else found this easy, and what the hardest fight was in this case.

FYI my hardest fight was probably Twisted Rune with my PC at lvl 8..I only entered by accident, but I got it in the end

And if you want I'll post on my easy (non-cheese) fight with Kangaxx

Actually this depends very much on your party.
Twisted Rune was easy for my good party, as I had Machinegune Mazzy with me but a hell when I first did it with an evil low level party.
Generally I think that the fights against other parties (in the Sewers, Samia and most importantely Drizzt) are underestimated too often.
However most of the fights in SoA can be solved without actual cheating by just using "very creative" tactics and exploiting AI bugs. So none of them is real hard. I had my hardest time with Adalon
(I was rushing through the Underdark to get better items fast and encountered the Silver Dragon at very low level)

The Black dragon in Suldanessellar was hard. Even after lowering his resistance 30% I never did get a Hold Monster or Polymorph to work. In the end hack and slash did the trick but even Minsc and Valygar's THAC0 wasn't consistently hitting.

Probably the hardest battle is the one with the Shadow Dragon in the ruins of Amanautar Temple.
Taha was hard, very hard.

There is no fight that is hard after you have found a way to defeat it once.
However the first time that I went through the game the hardest by far was Kangaxx.Took me at least 3 hours to defeat him.Now it takes 3 minutes.Ah well...

i would have to say the cambion in irenicuses dungeon. i dualed a berserker to a thief right in the beginning, and he was only level five when i fought the cambion.

After doing some quests, I had enough to buy a shield that later helped me do the twisted rune quest. Then I found the compound. After that and some leveling up, I could do the red dragon. Shadow came next and then sewers( hard imo). Then Kangaxx came after I had all his parts. Then I did the prison( need to think here on how to approach the while area to make it easy). Then Nalia's( way easier this time around). Now I'm in the planar sphere. I've done side quests and received much of the rewards.

I have to say that if one doesn't have a certain amount of proper items, some easy things can be difficult. It's all about compensating your weaknesses and having something to one up the npc's strongpoints.

Kangaxx was easier since I had the beloved staff of magi. That's saying you get one character who can cast a lvl 9 spell on himself way earlier than possible( Gaxx has bad bad AI too). This was key in my way I fought em. It's really a matter of how you stumble upon the things. There is no one true way to go about it. There are things that makes the next quest simpler and easier to do though. And I think "most" ppl stumble upon Gaxx early; that's the only thing that made em seem hard. Now there is a safe way to beat em every time.

I can't say the same for dragons like Firkraag yet. My whipping his hide is too random. Sometimes I win and sometimes I don't. This seems to be because I was of a lower level. It's either you are of low level hitting the dragons or low level hitting the sewers and Gaxx - wich makes either seem hard.

I still say dragons will give the tougher battles. You can haste/melee rush most of the stuff out there provided they don't disintegrate/imprison you like liches/Gaxx do. Dragons take a bit more time because of the wing buffet.

For Gaxx, I can only see two ways to beat em non-cheesy style. I wouldn't even know what cheesing him would be like. Can't set traps or cloudkill him I don't think. Organic creatures can be cheesed. Dragons can but this isn't a thread about cheesing your hated npc, so apart from that, definitely a worthy fight every time.

Bah, I need to get out of chapter two some day.

Irenicus in Spellhold is easy. Just hit him with missiles and wands before he builds up his defenses (works for most mages as wands e.g. of lightning are faster than spellcasting) or cast miscast magic on him.

hardest for me at a low level was firkraag, then all the dragons got a lot easier as i leveled up and i didnt have any trouble with the rest of them

liches have always been a problem for me, but i just killed the 2 in underdark without much trouble, so i'll give kangaax a try tomorrow (got back to the surface today)

irenicus in spellhold was easy for me, and the final battle wasnt hard either...just take down his spell protections and whack him

but HARDEST IN GENERAL was with a large group of mind flayers heh...they always stunned my party and killed us at their leisure... so i finally beat them by clogging a hallway with summoned monsters and using missile weapons mind flayers...i still have trouble with them...
