Katana +5: Artholas' Bane
This perfect blade was a gift given to Artholas' by King Celecion of the Sarnathellar forest. Artholas was a general in the King's army and after a brilliant campaign fighting against Huron invaders this sword was gifted to Artholas.
This gift proved to be Artholas' downfall for he trusted in it too much. He grew battle hungry and led his unit into Huron lands. It was in the Denshran Pass where they were attacked by Hurons. It seemed an easy battle, for Artholas and his sword cut a bloody trail through the attackers. Just when victory seemed near, Artholas was confronted by a huge white dragon which immediately swallowed him up. Many at the battle saw his sword fall and it was seen no more until now. The sword is said to have peaceful violet glow.

Tis a sad tale...

The sword is indeed powerful, but I like the irony that it just takes one element of suprise AND one BIGass bad mofo of a dragon to lay rest the devastation this sword brings.

In many cases, big bad monsters call for big bad weapons and vice versa. It's overpowered, but it's doable even if my nme possessed it...hell, I just watched Lord of the Rings over this past weekend, and I think ANYTHING is possible, especially with that ending - Gawd.

Give that sword to one of my most hated enemies and just let me get Legolas and a few more archers Someone will go down. The bane will in time give the wielder a sense of invulnerability; that's just enough time to build up an army of elven archers.

I dunno how AOE spells equate into this, but I'd use AOE spells out the wazoo to get around the protections or something like the pierce line to take down some of the resistance...or summoned fodder to surround the wielder while my archers go to town.

Ranged non-magical weapons look like the answer to taking the wielder of that badboy down - that or one simple catapulted boulder to the head. Painting a smiley face on the boulder before it's launch is optional of course.

Zarns Infernal Axe

This is a double weapon a two-headed axe.

first head: Thaco +5, Dam. 1d8+5+1d6fire+wounding*+unholy**
Second head head: Thaco +5, Dam. 1d8+5+1d6fire+wounding*+spell storing***

*victim loses 2 hp each round until healed (cumulicative)
**aditional 2d6 dam. to good creatures
***2 spells of level 1-5 can be stored and are cast when the weapon hits something

This weapon also counts as a holy symbol

once/day it can be used to cast that 10th level wizie spell that makes you cast spells faster.

True that. I made this post for fun. It's absorbed lots of diverse ideas, opinions, scrutiny, and help - which all makes for good reading. To the guys who posted their original ideas and knew where I was going with this, thanks for the read - good stuff. The names are many. To MANY of the ppl who contributed help in the making of some of these weapons and items, my thanks as well as the thanks of the requesters go out to you. To Memnoch, thanks for nudging me and I'm sure others in the right direction - I will get the hang of it one day...(k, I'll stop here since when I try to be thorough I'm more an (_!_) than anything) . Azred, man dun know what to say Your insight has led a handful of ppl here to get into item creation for fun. Luvian, hehe, thanks man for all the help on that blasted dog. I did tell you I had like over 10 RL dogs right? I take the good with the bad when it comes to criticism. Props go out to Morgan for catching on quickly and sharing right after that. Cerek had some nice colors and a nice item too-"themey". The list of names is long since this thread is getting to be rather lengthy.

To ALL posters, thanks for contributing ideas. Be it uber items or not, my only care was to have ppl express their creative thoughts. If an uber item floats your boat then that's cool. I won't try to bash nor would I really want another to do so here, but different opinions make for unique dialogue. I do say to consider some limitations when it IS easy to make custom items. There is a point to be made when considering balance AND FUN FACTOR.

Azred has pointed out the upload site. I also suggest visiting that place once your custom item has been done/tested. Seems like once the ppl have gotten used to making items, custom shops will be opening.

If ya haven't alrdy done so, check out Sir Goulum's, Luvian's, and Azred's posts. If you are asking yourself what is the next step after completing your first game of SOA, think on how the next go would be, with a lil modding thrown in. I bet ya will get a totally different experience the second time around.

Now to get a handful of items created that a majority of players will find useful for ---(((SOA)))---. This was brought up in Sir Goulum's post.

I myself would like to see -NOT so overly powered items- introduced into the SOA game. We could discuss what items would be fit for SOA, when they could be found, prices, and the whole nine... This is no means to throw a task on someone's shoulders, but it would be fun to get opinions as to what items would be worthwhile to quest for and all that.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents since I was away for a few days.

---Brief history of the Diploid---

The great sage Merdakaey of the Tylthesium Desert was teacher, mentor, and trusted friend to the many he welcomed within his school. Years passed, and Merdakaey grew old. Some of the mages under "The Great" were out abroad seeking to give aid on the battlefield. It was Merdakaey's teachings that inspired many a men to call within himself the powers of the holy to aid in conflict. True Sight, Know Alignment, and many other arcane abilities were shared freely by "The Great". Upon Merdakaey's death, many followers of his school returned to their place of study. It was written in the will of the sage that he wanted most of his students brought "home" to bear witness on the last feat of their master. For three long days in the realm of men, you could hear the horns of Menrica bellowing out a low tone that enveloped sadness and a sense of lost. It was to be a time of mourning.

During the funeral session, it so happened that a student of Merdakaey's, his most studied apprentice, was overcome with grief that possessed him to alter the rituals and will of the great sage. The final gift the sage was to give to his "brothers" was his very essence. This however did not turn out the way it was intended because of Jehl's grief. Merdakaey's lifeforce remained with him even as he lay still on the pier waiting for his release. This was to be a moment not forgotten and to be celebrated upon - if that could have been. The last gift he was to bestow upon his "brothers" was that of a higher morale, the true sense of being.

Turns out that Jehl had dabbled in the arts of necromancy for a short time. He was very wise if not young. Some believe that he was influenced to act as he did from an outside force. We do not know if this is true, but we do know that all of the students lost their lives that grim day. The being Jehl released was part sane and mad. With it's powers it took the lives it once restored. The cries were heard miles away.

Jehl's influence on the matter was found true from a document later found on a dead body some few yards away from the entrance to the now damned temple. It's doors remain magically barred. The cries can still be heard. We do not know if it's from fresh victims or from long ago heroes. At night it is also said that the desert will be swept in mist, and within that mist you would find beasts in drab garments standing as high as men do. The warders guard the temple seeking out anything that get too near. Magical and furious, they are dangerous to every creature. Highly social and territorial, they guard the secrets that could possibly set them free.

This is the twisted fate of the damned. This is the loss of a great story.
