I am working on the Blink Dog, so far it is going great. I don't think there will be any problems.

To put those Chrysoberyl gems to use...( and yes overpowered against the appropriate npcs, not all)

Alas! We have found the golem that has the last part to Alkabhar's Riddle. Years of research has led us here. We have found the hidden Golem! It was a tough battle and three times have we searched the area. Lucky for our experienced mage friend, if not without him, we would never have found the secret. It is quite dank here even though we are in fair numbers. The smell of decay lingers as we set up fires. I can not stress enough how much I hate the smell and this place. I want to move as soon as possible but the others decided to post camp for the night. There is no telling what other dangers lurk about. Passing that red dragon was tough as it.

We have the scroll, and all 8 chrysoberyl gems. We will travel tomorrow to Alkabhar's old place of residence. There we shall find out if this was a hoax or if this is indeed true; I will dream of the Planar Staff tonight.

If all 8 magical gems and Alkabhar's scroll are placed within a magical chest of Al's old home, the magical lock will detach itself and release the Planar Staff.

-description-
The Planar Staff is the last piece documented in Alkabhar's journals. The great mage travelled the planes throughout most of his career. The "club" glows bright green once danger is detected. It is said that the weapon itself is made from a combination of years of magical rune structuring and rare chrysoberyl gems. In order to obtain this item, one must spend time to gather the right components as if following the great mage's steps.

Alkabhar's Planar Staff

type: staff/club -one handed-
enchantment: +3
THACO: +3
DMG: 1D4 +3 to undead (double dmg) saves vs spell or be destroyed, +5 to demons and "ghostlike" creatures(double dmg) saves vs spell or be destroyed
speed:8
weight: 3
required str: 12
restrictions:
No evil aligned characters can use ( I know, they got shafted again )

Abilities:
(when equipped)
vocalize
negative plane protection
protection from poison/disease
undead/demons in a 5' radius suffer at -2 THACO

1 time a day protection from undead.
1 time a day can cast True Sight ( Alkabhar did hunt lichs too )

This weapon kinda sucks in dmg against anything else as you can see, but is powerful against demonic beings. The speed is slow, but given enough time, the weapon should prove effective.

Intent was to introduce quested items. This item seems cool to quest for if one knew where to start. I thought of imprisoning an Iron Golem in Firkraag's dungeon. Upon casting a freedom spell in the area, you would talk to the golem and then fight it. This would be a Golem that could summon other golems hasted to help protect Alkabhar's legacy( dead golem has scroll). The magical chest would be found in the Temple District. Do we all know of the compound yet? Yes a trip back with all the right components will net this lil thing. The hard part is being able to find all the chrysoberyl gems and the quest starter.

Ideas are welcomed.

Help! I have the sword downloaded and I unzipped it to the override directory of BG2. I tried to put it on a character using Shadow Keeper, but I couldn't find it. Am i doing someting wrong?

If I were to create a quest to get the sword, would someone mind making it for me?

Not to dissuade people from offering to make this for you PeeWee, since we've got a selfless bunch of people here but you should try and give it a go yourself as well. It seems daunting in the beginning, but you don't really need any programming language - most of the TeamBG tools are pretty self-explanatory and there are a number of tutorials floating around. Start small and check some items to see how the effects are put together.

Once you start getting the hang of it you will develop a LIFELONG addiction to the game.

Making a dog is easy, but my problem come from the blinking and Dimension door abilities. I guess I could make it like those spider that keep teleporting around. Would that be ok?

The Dimension Door spell is still in SoA, Luvian - you should be able to use that.

I did, look here for my latest news on the item. Also, I am open to any suggestion that might fix my compatibility problem.

IF you already have the item, I might be able to make the quest for you, but I started editing this game only a few days ago, so I don't know all the tricks yet, and I amalready working on an item as well as my "Evil Mod".

So, I can do it for you if you find no one else, but it would have to be using the areas already in the game. Creating a new area would take too much time.

Just tell me what quest you have in mind and I will see what I can do.

Yeah, I got the programs to do so, but maybe I didn't stress it enough. I in no way wanted to have someone make the item for me( I'm not that type of guy). Ppl have been posting their ideas here and then others decided to say that some of those can be made while others couldn't.

I think reading Luvian's latest problems with making that item will show where I was coming from. There are other replies too that get really techy. I didn't think it can be done, but if someone wants to make it out of generosity or _fill in the blank here_, then I too won't dissaude them, but I did say in a few posts that I never wanted to actually get that dog. I know there are summoning items, but being a one time charge on a weapon, I did think the "item-weapon" would poof.

I think you are misintepretting my question. It's merely one that says" Can someone make that - anyone experienced enough to make that one? And not - Can someone make that for me?

Also, it was my way of lightening up the way the thread was going. I'm making up ideas. Others do too. Ppl then say those can be made in game. Other guys then say, hey can that be made for me...here's my e-mail. Me - "that's cool man". Post another idea. Techy talk on where to get those programs. Then someone bashes. Me- demonstrates the time I have to spend here and of course calmness heh. Luvian explains. The Diffuse- another post and that line you quoted from me, where I was hoping it would get back to discussions. Rather, Luvian decides out of _fill in the blanks here_ that he will take up this feat. Me - naw man, you know you don't have to. Luvian - I'm almost done. Me- "did you test it?"(to myself " that sounded too easy"). Luvian - uh oh, problem, can't make a weapon that summons. Me- *to myself* "thought so".

But, I won't say forget it man. I can do it on my own. That's just a bit more crass. I'm willing to accept ppl's help, even when I'm not big on that sort of thing. I understand where you're coming from; I also want to let you know exactly where I'm coming from too.

Grin Of Krishach:

"Long ago, a Holy Priestess sent her three most beloved sons into battle with boxes of magic around their necks to fight the dragon Krishach, breathing fire and poison. Krishach slew the three and the magic boxes opened up, capturing their souls. Long after the great dragon's death, its spirit was used by the Kenkari elves, care-takers of the dead royal elves' spirits in the great Aviary located in the Cathedral of the Albedo, to help a poweful human mage in an important quest that affected all beings. The dragon was a creature of cloud and of shadow; insubstantial, yet granted a terrible substance. Its flesh was a pale, translucent white, the white of a long-dead corpse. The dragon's skeleton was visible through the flaccid skin, which hung loosely over the bones. The eye sockets were empty, dark, except for a smoldering flame that gleamed bright one instant, then faded, then shone again, like dying embers being blown to life. One day, the Cathedral of the Albedo and all the surrounding lands were shaken by an unnatural earthquake, which was tied to the powerful human mage completing his quest, shattering the precious Aviary and releasing all the souls of the elves. The Grin Of Krishach, a giant two-handed sword, is a cruel curving blade with a serated double-edge. It is said the Keeper of the Souls cast one spell before all was lost, capturing the great dragon's spirit and those of the three sons into what coalesced as a sword, the shape of one of Krishach's long jagged teeth. The sword seems to contain a fire that bursts alflame when elves are near."

Yea, too bad I don't know much about the info of weapons to give stats for it. I think two-handers are like 1d12? It'd have something like triple damage vs. elves, double vs. half-elves, also some kind of fire damage, and I guess like a +4 enchantment or such. Also a few spells would be nifty on it, like that Wing Buffet thing dragons have, maybe some fire spell, but I don't know much about the spells since I'm not too far into BG2. Maybe someone could help me out, and then get it made or such.
