hey all. Ummmmm about that virus.
I received that email with the exact words forewarned, I opened the mail fori t was from Darth Drow; who to my knowledge could have been a buddy from the Bg2 dungoewn forums. I saw some attahcment, a Macro Flash 5 file, 199K, so I downloaded it, because it could also have been from a friend from school who was making a flash for me. It turned out to be some weird escalator soughta thing with "Name, 1, 2, etc" sliding up and down.... Since I downloaded that file it seems that my computer has always been busy; I had to restart because my hard drive was spazing out like crazy.. The file was called Isobar, so I deleted all traces of the "Isobar" file. I scanned and scanned, found no viruses, but I am wondering (since some viruses are unable to be detected), Do I have a virus? My computer occasionally gets busy which is irregular for my comp. plz help if ya can ![]() |

You have committed a cardinal sin! Repent! j/k
Seriously, never *EVER* trust emails that come with attachments - opening the email is safe, but always download the attachment to a special driectory just for this purpose, and SCAN before you run it! Even from friends - how do you know if their computers are infected or not? It it was a virus, it's too late. Hopefully you have made rescue disks - now would be a good time to use them (ie boot from them and use them to scan your system). Some virusses automaticly send themself to all people in the adress book so this Darth Drows computer could have been infected as well.

OMG...i received like 21 emails with virus executables in the attachments. It's all pretty amateurish style, but it works. I'm pretty sure you're infected now since any good virus coder knows to throw in a few extra lines of code to make the virus hidden from system scans. Anyone know where the virus is being sent from? I doubt it's from address books because I don't think my email was on anyone's addy in this forum such as Icing Death. I'm thinking that someone is using the forum itself to collect email addresses and spaming the viruses to everyone. Any comments or suggestions?

This should really be in the Gen Dis forum but since most of you don't check there I'll leave it here in the interests of informing people.
![]() The SirCam virus (dunno about this Isobar one) and a few other new virii and Trojans check the temporary internet folder of an infected user for email addresses and will propagate by sending itself to those email addresses, in addition to addresses it finds in the Outlook Address Book. So any site that that user has been to that is still stored in their cached net files will be at risk. Click here for more information on this. ------------------ ![]() |

I had to format; this virus became an absolute pain. I researched it, and found it to be the 2nd worst virus EVER, and in my country its on the radio; my friend told me the FBI are infected! I went out and bought the latest virus scanner, but by that time my computer was randomly restarting, d/c me from the internet, and giving me alotta trouble.....
