I'm in the Underdark and the mindflayers are really annoying. Does anybody have any tips when dealing with them? Thanks.

The fourth(?) level priest spell chaotic commands protects against the flayers' psionic abilites for a short time. You'll also come across some brine potions in one of those rooms which have the same effect. Also, if you summon creatures to fight the flayers at close range, your party can pop off missiles from a safe distance.

Farsight and Invisible Stalker Work well together. About 3 or 4 invisible stalkers can take out 6 mindflayers (they're immune to the "devour brain" ability they have). The only prob with this is the umber hulks can mush em before they do they're job. So for the hulks use a few cloud kills to take em out (while farsighted) and then take out the flayers. Cloud Kill wont kill the mind flayers because of the magic resistance (like 90%). Use Caotic commands if you want to resist the charm of the flayers but using my strategy above you wont get close enough to need to.

If you have a berserker, Minsc or barbarian, the raging ability offers immunity to the psionic attacks. I always succeed by piling all the best armour and protective rings, amulets, shields etc onto one guy, improve haste him and enrage. This creates a tank that will mash the flayers, and they will only be able to penetrate the armour with critical hits. Also, using potions of genius to raise intelligence will allow for more hits to be taken before your mind is sucked dry.

Don't risk more than one of your lineman when dealing with squads of devourers. What you should do, is summon up a combination of Skeletons and Mordenkain's Swords (both of them immune to having their brains eaten, most likely due to the fact that they dont have any), and send them in with a "spotter". Just cast chaotic commands on a charachter and have him run in and avoid the mindflayers while the swords and skeletons go to work. A mass haste on them will increase your chances of success IMMENSELY.

Its easy, first send your cleric invisible, cast blade barrier and send it near them, but dont attack simply looks blade barrier damaging them, when blade barrier ends retire cleric and use your thief, hide in shadows and put him/her near door so you can close when you want, then use your mage and cast a poison cloud that fills the area near door and run for safety, when you see message "mindflayer attacks mage" close door with thief and look those dumbs poisoned to dead, the last step choose your best warrior, give him haste, heroic potions inmunity to psionics, etc and give a merciless kill, at this time the only survive must be near dead
