I use 2 flails, so I want my proficiencies allocated to flail and two-weapon style, right? Does there come a point when I am able to re-allocated my proficiencies? I have tried when I level up, but I am unable to move a point from sling, for instance, to flail.
Now it seems to me that I should get better at flail and two-weapon style by the mere fact that I use them all the time, but it doesn't work out that way. |

Welcome to the board Andel
I'm not certain but I believe as you level up eventually you gain more proficiencys. It doesn't happen every time you level up though. and once you make a decision on a proficiency you are stuck with it so decide on them carefully hope this helps ------------------ [This message has been edited by Gwayne (edited 06-19-2001).] |

That is absolutely correct Gwayne.
it depends on what class character youre playing with as to how many slots you can put on any given proficiency. As near as i can remember monks can only have either 1 or 2 slots on anything. Cant remember. Fighters can have up to 5 on a slot. Mages 1 I think. Just choose wisely. what class are you playing??? Welcome to the board!!!!! ------------------ THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!!!!!!!! |

Thanks. Glad to be a part of the board.
I am playing a Ranger which I dualed to cleric at level 8. Now I believe I am level 8 in both. And as I understand the rules I will always stay a level 8 ranger? Maybe I should have dualed at 9 to get the extra proficiency? |

that would've been a good idea, but you would need much more xp to regain your renger's abilities.

You are not able to re-allocate, but you can add to slots. I've tried to do that to no avail. You will just have to start a new game over and distribute accordingly.

With fighters, you should always dual class once you hit a level of 3, such as level 9 or level 12. You get a proficiency every 3 levels.
And once you pick a proficiency, that is the proficiency you have. You can't go back in time and change your makeup, if you are level 6 and decide to add another proficiency to your sword, its like training. Way back at level 6 you were taught how to use your sword better. You can't jump back in time and change what skills you possess. |

I think you get a new weapon proficiency every 5 levels for standard fighters Sunder. ie lv 10, lv 15, lv 20 etc.

Well that's too bad. I once played a game (forget what it was called - yeah, real memorable) where the character could go to a guild house for his class and train for proficiencies or retrain proficiencies. Wouldn't that be a good idea?

Nope proficiencies for fighters are every 3 levels. You start with 4 proficiencies for a fighter. You get another at level 3, 6, 9, 12. Thus when you start a fighter character at level 7, you start with 6 proficiencies (4 to start, 1 at level 3, 1 at level 6).
Then at level 9 you get your 7th proficiency, then at level 12 you get your 8th proficiency. Mages start with 1, and get 1 every 6 levels. so a level 12 mage has 3 proficiencies. 1 to start, another at level 6, another at level 12. |
