Because of a certain problem with the game previously, i decided to uninstall the game and then re-install it. However, the uninstall didnt get rid of the files, so i deleted them manually. When i came to re-install the game, i inserted the first disk, and it didnt come up with the setup screen, but rather the splash screen for the game (Play game etc). I looked at the files on the cd, and ran the setup program. However this just tries to uninstall the game again. Can anyone give me any help?

I've had similar problems with other games. The reason there was that the game was not deleted from the registry. Try cleaning your registry manually or with a program like Norton Utilities. It might help

MY COMPUTER> CONTROL PANNEL> ADD/DELETE PROGRAMMES.
Search thru the list and delete anything you find related to BG2. If your registry thinks that BG2 is still installed it will not allow you to re-install it. |

You don't need NU for cleaning up yur registry. Type "regedit" at the command prompt and then search the key in LocalMaschine/software, which ha to do with bioware or BG. But beware: First make a backup of your registry and then start to change things, because changing or deleting keys is applied at once and not on exiting and saving. And if you delete the wrong key(s), you may get major Problems

Microsoft has published a tool for these sort of problems. Itīs called *RegClean* and you can download it for free from their site. I canīt remember the URL but a search for this tool should suffice.
*RegClean* searches your registry for *dead* registry links - meaning if you have an entry for an installed file in your registry but the file no longer exists it deletes this entry but creates a *.reg backup file so you can restore the original with one click if problems arise. I have used this tool quite often for a lot of different programs and never encountered any problem. If you canīt find this tool please post and I will send it to you via email.
