After I import my Fighter from BGI I paln to make him a Mage. I knew I would do this so his intel is 18. I also know that you can read books that boost your stats. So when I bring him over his intel should be 19. What will this do for a Mage ?

it gives you a couple of extra spells than normal and also gives you a higher chance of learning spells from scrolls. hey dave read your wizzards of light thread.

Bonus memorized spells per level (not sure of how many, however), an almost 100% chance of learning a spell from a scroll, and an increased number of spell slots in your spell book.

With an INT of 19, there is NO limit to the number of spells you can have in the spellbook. INt of 18 or less, there IS a limit. (I gave Lord Raptor an INT of 19 to achieve this)

Actually u don;t get any extra spells with a higher INT. U get a POSSIBILITY of extra spells meaning u are not limited. However, in BG2 the exp. cap. prevents this from making any difference. Of course u could get the level 50 rules pack or wait for throne of Bhaal.
Of course there is a better chance of learnin spells from scrolls as mentioned above. And a better INT means lower durations for mind effecting spells like Maze and also a higher tolerance for INT drains like mind-flayer attacks. |

Let's face it: you need 18+ in ALL stats, whatever your character type, lol! That way you can face ANYTHING! However, it is unlikely unless you cheat!

Only fighters want to have 17, 18 or 19 for constitution - all other don't care except for saves vs CON. Con 20 gives regeneration. FIghter usually don't care for mental attributes, although as someone said before, high int help in fighting mind flayers and high wisdom help with your saving throws. But in general not that important. The hardest character to roll with optimal stats is a bard - need everything except wisdom.

Almost all others. I think Conjurers have a minimum CON 15 requirement for the class. INT helps with mind flayers, does it? Wisdom also helps with the Beholder in the Sahuagin city and with the Limited Wish spell |
