None at all, IIRC. He's a joinable NPC, and you can kill those without it having any effect on your rep. You won't get any XP either.

What I always do if I'm roleplaying a good character who wouldn't kill for such a thing, is get him in the party, open the door to the Sphere, and immediatley kick him out again, replacing him with the original member. You only need him to open the door, you won't need him specifically inside the Sphere.
