Morkins sword, or maybe Rils(?) the dancing sword, completely immune to mind attacks, and none magical weapons. and if they are killed by some strange occurence, they have geen stone amulets on them, so its win, win.

Thanks for you help everyone!
Yorick, sorry to say I no longer use a Bard. I traded in him for an Undead Hunter when I started my new game. Although I might switch back to a Bard again the next time I go through the game. But only as a result of all the peer pressure. Everybody else seems to think that Bards are so great -- maybe I didn't give mine a fair shot. Take it easy all |

I see we have a bunch of fairly new people to this board, si I guess that it's time to repeat my Mind Flayer advice...
Here we go............................ Mind Flayers are pussycats if you use one simple perfectly available priest spell. have your priest/druid cast Chaotic Commands on your 2-3 tanks. Have them also drink down a potion of Genius or Mind Focusing (or both). Then have them charge right into battle, hacking and slashing to their heart's content. The only Mind Flayer attack that remains dangerous is INT drain. If a mind flayer physically touchs you, it will drain 5 points of INT. If you hit zero or less, you're dead. The INT drain is temporary, so you should be able to withdraw the drained character from the battle for a handful of rounds and regain those INT points. FYI, Chaotic Commands lasts long enough to clear out either mind flayer dungeon. What should you do with your other characters? Leave them out of sight initially. But after your tanks are fully engaged with the soon-to-be-dead mind flayers, bring the other NPCs close enough for long range missile or magic support fire. Target the mind flayers fire. Ignore the umberhulks until the mind flayers are dead. Use this strategy and mind flayers will bother you nevermore. |
