I couldn't find the thread I read last wek on Saxx coming back from the dead. Well, it happened to me too. I wanted him to die w/o killing him myself. So, I hired him, took him to the Wilderness and then dismissed him just before a combat. The 3 swallowers went after him and killed him and I got the goodies! I went to get the staff of doom and diamond eyes (at lvl10) and when I got back to the base, there was Saxx! He was green but wouldn't talk to me though.

yes that happens. Its the 24 hour rule.
If you dismiss someone u have to wait 24 hours for him/her to reappear at their normal spawn spot.

Dismiss then kill or be let killed they still respawn, but yes, they dont respond to you anymore.

I do the same with vi and miles at the start of the game for experience and loot.

You can kill them again, regardless of being unable to talk.

But in one of my games Myles was killed by Brigands and Henchmen in Arnika and he didn't return. And in another he also died long after a combat endet because he was poisoned, and again he didn't return.

Same happened with Rattus Rattus, who died by poison from a rank weed thorn.
Saxx once returned after he was killed but that dot was red.

Yah, there must be a pretty complex set of rules (mis)guiding the behavior of lost souls. Killing Crock can have interesting results, too. Maybe it's because i play on Patch 001b, but sometimes my game forgets that crock is dead when i pick up the Idol. It crashes then, unless it's a Solo, who gets the Reaper. Sometimes, returning to the Swamp after killing Crock, i see a green dot on the Radar (X-Ray on) where he would be, which disappears when i walk right up to where he's not.
