Can't open a couple of doors in the upper Rapax Castle

OK, I'm on my first play through the game so I'm not sure if I'm missing anything vital. I've thoroughly searched the place from top to bottom but there's a couple of doors I can't unlock in the upper castle. The first is opposite the room on the very top floor of the castle where you drop through the hole under the bed. Looking at the map though it doesn't seem like there's much behind it anyway. The second door you find in the area after you drop through the hole. There's two doors next to each other, behind one is a portal which seems to need activating somehow and the other door I can't open. I'm guessing the means to activate the portal is behind this door. Despite this I'm not stuck as I also found a portal to Ascension Peak so I've dropped a Set Portal here for later use. Am I missing out though on something vital I need later by not being able to open these doors???

The grey door across from the Prince's room opens with the Portcullis Key and allows you to raise the portcullis that blocks the Royal area from the three-way junction with hte raised bit in the middle (which you stand on to get the key)

The portal that's not working goes to Arnika, and you're right--its missing piece is in the room you can't get in next door, which has one of the game's most famous chests. To get that key, get the deposit slip from the room with the whip and dead Rapax and place it in the tube on the wall in the King's room, across from where you 'open' his arms rack with the King's Apartment Key to get to the portal to the Tower.

That's odd, I had 4 deposit slips which I placed in that tube (very illogical puzzle this one, took me ages to work out what I needed to do with them), 1 I found on that body and 3 I got somewhere else from a safe.

Should the key come out with the items that appear when you put the other deposit slips in?

Was it the Queen's deposit slip ?? The other ones have some good stuff, but the Queen's yields the key needed.

if you put them all in before you took any items out of the niche, you'll only get the item from the first slip you put in there. You don't need any of the stuff from there, but there are some pretty nice items, and in the chest, tho random, can be lovely stuff, too.

Yeah, I think I stuck them in all at once. I ended up with 3 items though.

Still, I'll know what to do next time round
