I feel a bit silly asking this... but where are the mine tunnels? How do I access them?
Thanks

There are two entrances - one is from underneath Marten's Bluff and the other is from an area NE of the swamp.
Take a look at the map on page 101 of your manual for a better idea. |

Yeah I looked at that map, but didn't really find it too illuminating
![]() Thanks . Although I don't want to go back in the swamp! It's scary ![]()

I agree about the swamp being beyond creepy. It's the only place I really want to know where the monsters are! A few tiger mosquitos or ironskin crocs can do that to you...;o

In the swamp, cross the bridge and follow the road, keeping north whenever there is more than one path. That will take you to the tunnels area.

The manual map sux. Its by far the worst game map ever created. Plus it's extremely similiar to the Wiz7 world map, lazy bastards.
But be careful in the mine tunnels, if your on low levels, it can be a real bitch, because you can get damaged quickly and be ambushed when resting even faster. |

Yah, i save a level or two before i go in there--entering at 9 and immediately leveling. My favorite way to avoid being surrounded is to go up the steep hill as soon as you can (just around the table boulder) and initiate combat before i'm high enough to be seen and then run back to the left end of the fence. That's a great funnel, but you can accidentally step off it. Which is also helpful in that you can also engage at a distance in a fairly wide arc, but still only one of them can get in short with you.

In the mine area you can get these waves of swarm after swarm. I do the opposite of Scatter. On entering the region I go to the right by the lake and find a corner. There are no really good ones, just one that covers our back. As the first wave of swarms engage, put on all buffs and kill all but one (usually the Savant gunner). Run up the hill (while still in battle mode) into the abandoned shed on the left. Even if other critters are near they don't tend to engage easily when you are in another battle. The shed is easily defensible against all comers, mostly allowing only one attacker at a time. This way you are not caught in the open, like you can be if you run up the hill first. Keep near the shed until you are sure no more attacks are coming: this particular area is very sneaky the way they get you to expose yourself...er, you know what I mean!

i never get caught in the open the way i go, and most the corners of which you speak allow 3 attackers at once. And if you fight from the hut, some mobs can get 'stuck' behind the hut, causing combat to end util you come out again.

Oh here's a nice little XP tip for you Aelia. Once you reach the top of the quarry, and you find the T'rang camp, there is this cheap but nice way to get loads of XP. Get into the base where Tantris is. There's a force field that leads outside. Don't turn it off just yet. First, sit in front of it, and rest. You'll notice monsters waiting for you outside. Repeat this process until the game gets laggy cuz of the hordes of monsters. Turn the force field off, and nuke their asses with fireballs and such.
