Hey CT,
What would be your prime concern for a Ranger who will be doing mostly shooting from the back? Spd and Dex?

Three last question before my party is set to go, at long last.
![]() 1)If my samurai will have 14hp at the begining of the game instead of 15hp, that won't affect the number of hp gained per level, right ???? 2)What is better for a fighter: swords or axes ? 3)Although my ninja has some points at dual weapons skill, how can i make her throw with both hands, i dind't get the trick so far ![]() [ 07-10-2003, 08:05 PM: Message edited by: tvlad ]

Actually that matches pretty well (though I'd probably reverse DEX and SPD) with my typical use of the Samurai as a caster, i.e. you don't have another Mage-book caster, but you do have another melee type (or two), and you want your Samurai to be able to cast Mage-book spells well throughout the game, and are willing to sacrifice some melee capability for the magic. Or in an all-hybrid party, where the same considerations apply. I'd guess that the guide recommends that kind of Samurai because the assumption is that the reason you chose a hybrid in the first place is because you want decent spell-casting ability. Quote:

2) Swords. There are very few kick-ass axes in this game, and the good ones all have terrible Initiative. Yeah, Excaliber also has poor Initiative (almost all two-handed weapons do), but it has mondo stats otherwise. And there are a number of great one-handed swords. 3) Just put throwables (darts, shuriken, knives) in both the Primary and Secondary slots, i.e. the pair on each side of the body, either the pair closest to the body or the outside pair. Note that Sling+Rocks is *not* an IK-generating throwable; it will raise the Throw & Crit skills, but you won't get IKs with a sling. That said, it's by far the best way to raise the Ninja's ranged skills early in the game, when good throwables are hard to find, and the Ninja doesn't hit that often anyway. Plan on using a sling for at least the first 10 levels, and buy shuriken and darts from Antone and Anna every time they have them (stash them in Antone's chest); by the time your Ninja becomes a credible ranged attacker, you'll have built up a decent supply of throwable weaponry. Eventually you'll get the Boomerang Shuriken, which will cut your ammo consumption in half. |
