I am having too much trouble with my Windows 98 OS and am going to upgrade. I wanted to know if Wizardry 8 will work with Windows XP, it does not say on my box or in the manual. thanks for the info.

I should wait until SP1 is out for XP before upgrading. XP is basically not a game plaform friendly. New games will run well if they have the XP logo, but waste majority don't have it. I lusk on other formus for other games as well and XP is a recurrent problem.

Compared to the change from W95 to W98, or W98 to WinME, "XP" is a truly gargantuan leap. ANY game without an XP logo is going to be DOUBTFUL. Folks who own very new computers have good luck with it. Others whose computers are on the low end of the range of acceptable systems (whatever it is, probably a 500 MHz Pentium III with 128 Mb of RAM; and I know it eats up a Gb of storage - it's HUGE!)

You can still find new upgrades of W98 to the "SE" edition, which I personally consider to have been much better than "ME". (I've removed the ME version from the one PC I tried it on and reverted to W98SE.)

P.S. You do know that an occasional re-install of a Windows OS has always been a sort of general tonic to sort the critter out, right? This necessity has lessened as we got further away from Windows 3, but still seems to be needed from time to time!

Running Win XP Pro her. W8 works fine for me - along with BG2, Icewind Dale and PoR 2. Had difficulties with M&M 7, but compatibility mode solved that. And no, I didn't jump head first into (possibly) another MS blunder - had dual boot with 98 SE for a couple of months first

I'm running it on XP Pro, it's running fine. It's booted me back to the main screen twice but it wasn't a recurring problem. I just reloaded the game and played on like nothing happened.

I can say i not agree in this, i have trie almost all my old and new games in Win XP and they work greate including Wizardry 8 so the logo thingie is some thing that are coming now when the XP is released only game that i could get not to work is Ultima 8 and XP is made for home entertianment (games, video and so on) i have XP pro and no problems at all but use the Win Uptdate all the time to get all latest drivers and so on up to date then most things will work greate!

EDIT
And WELCOME all you NEW user to the forum!!!
