I am not sure if this is a bug or not. I selected vi's stun mace which was in her inventory and right clicked it to another member so it went straight to their inv. From that she repeated over and over 'bla bla thats mine okay' couldn't move it back or even select it from the other char, and couldn't escape from the char display screen, had to break out to windows and close the program.
Also, what does that bar at the top of the screen mean during battles? As well, I just restarted for the third time because I find my chars are to weak after arnika.. is there a balance of good axes/maces/polearms to swords in higher levels.. id hate to build up my axe just to find everything good is sword *I hate that! (W+W)* and are gadgeters worth it/fun? |

Hi Zuljin!
Well, don't know about that bug-thing. Maybe I can try that later today, and, well, maybe I find something (or ask myself if it is a bug, too....). For the gadgeteers: YYEESSS! At least, I think so. It takes a little while till they find their first really useful item, but I just LOVE that playing around with the gadgets and other stuff... I have to admit, I read all the spoilers about that, so I rarely miss any useful thing, maybe they're not so funny if you play on your own and probably miss some stuff... The weapon balance seems good, I found ... well, I'd say 3 good polearms up to now, and I'm definitely not half through the game. I also got a very decent mace, and I know it is fixed, i.e. you can find it there in every game. Don't know about axes, sorry... Hope that helps, anyway. Never forget your towel, cheers Philipp Edit: Uh, right, that bar. It shall show you the progress of the current round, at least if you are in non-continous combat mode. If there are lots of enemies, it just moves very little every time one of them moves, if there are 3 or so, it is (naturally) faster. Helps you estimate if you got time to grab a coffee before releasing hell on them ![]() [ 02-18-2002: Message edited by: Pyrates ]

quote: I've never seen that happen where you have to close the program after fondling Vi's mace... but you can't take it from her, no matter what. even unconsious, she keeps it. The bar at the top of the screen is the initiative counter. It starts at a number that is the highest initiative out of all parties in combat and counts its way down... when it hits the end, the round is over. So if 1 of your characters has 19 initiative and another has 6, you can see relatively where on the bar it has to be before the 6 will go... but in my experience, it's pretty useless... after awhile, you get a feel for when each of your characters will go. As for weapon balance... just like pretty much EVERY melee fighting game out there, Swords are by FAR the most varied and plentiful. It doesn't mean there aren't good axes or polearms, but they're fewer and further between.

Yep, swords are by far the best weapon class. Maces are good for dual-wielders (there are a couple of very nice off-hand maces) and there are one or two nice extended-reach flails at the very end. Polearms, axes, and daggers are nice at the beginning of the game, but there are relatively few good ones late in the game. I generally build most of my fighter-types as either sword or sword/mace wielders, though rogues work pretty well as sword/dagger or dagger/dagger wielders, and samurai should stick with sword/sword.

quote: Just checked this again and Im allmost 100% it will lock up the game. For me, if Vi's mace is in her inventory, you can select it, and RIGHT CLICK to give it directly to another party member. After this, you cannot select it anymore, it will switch to her char review screen and she will say 'bla bla bla thats mine' then if you try and close the review with the exit button in the bottom right it goes to her and repeats over and over 'bla bla thats mine' Won't let you exit, locked up yes? |

I found another mace just like it -- gave it to one of my characters, then had VI sell hers just to get back at her. |

I guess it was a mistake for my dwarven fighter to max out axe "mastery" then? (sorry, I'm still in D2:LOD-mode)
The axe that antone can make, isn't that any good? .. I am now usinga bipennis, I found an axe outside the sea caves which does every maladie you can think of, but has a stupidly low dmg (7-16 or something)... |

Ive never seen a GOOD sword yet. Fang is the best ive seen and as for polearms the shock rod or death spear are about the best ive seen in the game and far supior then any sword ive seen. Havent gotten any light sword yet and no mook in group for the big swords they didnt impress me so my guy uses fang with shield. Soon as he would double hit he could do around 70-100 dam. But as for shock rod try paralyze 1st attack.... My robot monk and high damage also. But far as swords go my next group will not use any just polearms and bow or crossbow.
Killing is my business and business is good... |
