Err Knip Dyolf, it's an Excel spreadsheet, if you know how to get Excel to read a binary file to extract the character stats, then by all means send me an e-mail with the details, but I don't believe this would be possible.

chimera99, thanks!

MornD, yes Hi. I probably wont be as active on this board as the VN ones (only have so much on-line time a day ya know!, besides I need my free time to play Wiz8 )

Gimli and Ice3, I don't think the save as HTML option will work with the multiple sheets or transfer the formulas used to do the calculations (and some on them are LONG). The freeby web site I'm using to host my file doesn't allow CGI scripts, otherwise it would have been a beaut of an idea. I'll do some expermenting, but wouldn't hold ya breath.

'til next time, bye!!!

Great idea! You should add this to the 'best tips' thread - it certainly qualifies!

If the spellcasting character is selected while you're browsing items, it will tell you whether or not the caster can learn the spell at this time. Just in case people didn't know.

There have been some minor updates to the web site, but the Wiz8SpellAbility file (v1.03) remains unchanged (gathering more suggestions/ideas together before working on v1.04).

AAARGHHHH!

Hi Wolfie!
I just installed StarOffice on one of the sparcs in my office and tried to open your famed spreasheet. And guess what... "password protected"... Did you do this? If yes, could you tell me the password, or, like, maybe, send me a non-protected version? You don't sound like you wouldn't want me to use it... Or is this again one of these )_(&()_(_(*^*(& computer-business things where you have no chance to get out other than buying a new computer, winXP and the office suit?
Thanks for any help...

Never forget your towel, cheers
Philipp

The formulas and stuff are protected to prevent ppl monkeying with it and re-distributing it with bogus/misleading or malicious content. Under Excel this works fine. Other spreadsheet application packages may not "fully" support Excel file formats and so have problems.

I am not at this stage prepared to release a non-protected version, sorry. Would very much like to find a solution that allowed everyone to use the file (the more ppl who use the file, the more worthwhile my time spent has been), chose Excel as I believe it is the most commonly used spreadsheet app, and if non-Excel packages claim to support Excel files but don't cover all aspects of what that file may contain, there really is little I can do about that.

Kind regards,
- Wolfie

Hi Wolfie!

Well, no matter, thanks for your answer. I buy all available spellbooks anyway , I was mainly curious. But now you got me interested: What's a "ppl" and what do you mean with "ppl-monkeying"? I'm such a newbie...

Never forget your towel, cheers

You could always try Microsoft's (free) Excel viewer, at least you'll get an idea of what it's all about to decide if you want to pursue this any further. Go to http://office.microsoft.com/download.../xlviewer.aspx and follow the instructions.

Tried it, and I must say, it looks fine! Thanks for it, even if I can't use it, other people seem to enjoy it.
