Greetings, everyone. New here. Hope I'll have much to share with you all -- I'm quite an enthusiast on RPG games.
Just one thing I'd like to know. I've been playing Wizardry 8(absolutely lovely game -- though it would have been even better if you could fly in it and build your own levels for it, and if its installation were more painless). Been to the Umpani base camp. I'm hesitant to let my party enlist in the Umpani army (saved my game first just to give it a try -- hate the obstacle course), because I dislike commitments of this nature. My main worry is: will it still be possible for my party to get along with the T'Rang later if they enlist in the Umpani army? (I haven't been to where the T'Rang are, yet.) Can I be on good terms with both, or must I choose one? 'Cos I understand the two camps are supposed to hate each other's guts. Please help, thanks! It is possible. However, there is a particular situation that you must deal with or you will end up in trouble with one or the other.

What is that situation you spoke of, chimera? Do you reckon you could tell me or give me a hint? Thanks!

With out wrecking it for you.. the game does branch off, like a "choose your own adventure" book. No matter what you do, you will still get to the same point in the long run.
Join them, go explore doesn't really matter just yet. Sooner or latter you will have to do something. |

I won't mind letting my party join so long as it doesn't mean they'll be stuck with being hated by the T'Rang and unable to change that.
![]() ![]() But I suppose you have to join anyway as part of completing the game. After all, you have to join before you can enter Mt Gigas at all, right?... (Or is there some other way?...)

I hated that obstacle course, too.
In partial answer to your question, there just might be another way in, but you'll have to take a long, long-cut to get there. I don't know if it'd be worth it or not.

I'd rather take the long, long cut than become enemies of the T'Rang -- not to mention facing those ^%$#@# ceiling spikes.

It is entirely possible to join both groups. I do it every game myself. You get more experience that way, for one thing. All you need do is avoid He'Li after signing up with both.
Even the chaos moliri business is not really a problem. You just have to stop when they ask you to destroy the other side's ship. By that time, you'll probably be ready to bring about the great alliance, which is easier if you work for both of them. |

Good to know you can join both sides. Why do you need to avoid He'Li, though?

You avoid He'Li because she will find out that you're playing double agent and want a payoff
![]() Also, a friend of mine said that in one game, he paid her and somehow he got found out by the T'rang (or the Umpani, forget which). I therefore stay away from her, and have never had any trouble with working both sides of the street. |
