I am VERY anxious to play it. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of Arcanum. I'm almost done though. I'm the kind of person that has to finish a game before starting a new one. When I do start, I'm sure I'll be posting frequently. Looking forward to it!!!

Welcome! You will really enjoy the game once you get into it. Also, how was Arcanum?

Well you came to the right board.

This board rocks for Wizardry info and just great people.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm familiar with Sazerac from the Wizards and Warriors forum. He's helped me greatly. As for Arcanum, I like it. I'm not a big fan of 3/4 perspective but it keeps you busy quest wise. Very addictive. Mature dialogs.

Arcanum Sounds delightful. In fact, when I purchased Wizardry 8, it was a choice between this game and Arcanum. Three factors pushed me squarely into the W8 camp: the absolutely addictive demo, this discussion board (fast friendly answers, lot's of info, nice folks), and the fact that I had hit a saturation point with 3/4 perspectives games (the entire Infinity engine franchise).

Perhaps after I thoroughly exhaust W8's charms (no end in sight), I'll pick up Arcanum!

Hello, Xerin! Glad you're here. You WILL like Wizardry 8. It is a bit more...challenging than Wizards & Warriors was.

OT

I really loved Arcanum, played through with an Elfish Warrior-mage character. My only grudge is with the RPCs. Or rather the lack of control of them, you could not assign their stats/skill when they levelled up and their (lack off) AI in combat was driving me mad.

I only began to enjoy it when I discarded all the RPCs and soloed through.

hehe(don't want to start an Arcanum discussion but...)

i started Arcanum with a technologists/armorer and i had all these grand ideas about building a super fast guy with sweet self-healing armor and nice hand made weapons... after getting my butt kicked when i got to the mines and the rock golems and finding out that the armor required energy cells to run i started over. elf-swordmaster-mage... game was way too easy. that could have been balanced a tad.
my favorite place was Caladon. I liked the city, the music, the quests there. Very well designed.
