This is my first post here on the Ironworks boards so first I’ll give a little background.
My first game in the Wizardry series was Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord on the NES. I played this game A LOT when I was young. For those of you that haven’t played it, it really isn’t like the Wizardry of today. In retrospect, I’m surprised I played it so much considering its lack of content. I had a level 500 something fighter. He was decapitated by ninjas outside of Werdna’s lair and then eaten by Frost giants. It really was a great game, but I can’t really put my finger on why My second Wizardry was Heart of the Maelstrom on the SNES. Another great game but not as good as my next…….. Bane of the Cosmic Forge on the PC. (My old 286, no less) I THINK this was the first one written by DW Bradley and it really shows. I never actually finished it but it was, of course, a great game. And then Crusaders of the Dark Savant. Very similar to Bane, it is also a great game. And now Wizardry 8. So far, with my lvl 8 party, this is shaping up to be the best in the series. The only aspect I find lacking is the writing. Bane had really well written descriptions of all environments, and was quite often very funny. I remember finding a hidden closet in the queens bedchambers that was full of whips & chains and various S&M equipment. You could even wear/use the items! Anyway, I love the Wizardry series and look forward to many hours with this one. Sorry for the long post, I actually have some game play questions as well, but I think my boss is coming……. |

I spend half of my workday, sometimes more, surfing the net and readinf/posting to forums.
It's pathetic, really. I spend my whole workday in front of a PC and go home and do the same thing until I go to bed. Unless my girl friend kicks me off. She's a Dark Age Of Camelot addict |
