i greet you all;
i am 23yrs old student from lithuania; wiz8 devours all my spare time (hope it doesnt affect on my studies), but it is very nice expierence; i started playing v games short while ago (mostly because did not have own machine), but for some time played only fps's (shooters), ie quake2 ctf; it attracted me very much b/c smoothed teamwork makes all stars shine :] then i played diablo, fallout, and !- M&M7, and here it goes - wiz8 ..it was something very different and exciting; now i look into statistics of this forum and start looking white hair on my head.. am i getting old? i believe im not, just like most of you; i am glad i like same genre like enthusiastic and devoted to crpg people do; i am honoured;

I'm Verdant, aged 28 years. Though originally from elsewhere, I am now living in Denver with my significamt other and two cats. I started playing computer RPG's with the Bard's Tale and Might and Magic series for the C-64. They went by the wayside for a looong time.
I became re-acquainted with genre 3 years ago thanks to Black Isle/Bioware Games (PS: Torment is an exceptional game) and was suprised to learn that a sequal to Wizardry 7 was in development. I had forgotten about it until I downloaded the demo immediately fell into the game's thrall. It more than lives up to the legacy of Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. In fact, it reminds me how much I liked stat-driven, old-school style rpg's. What more could you ask for from a game than nostalgia of the old and anstonishment at the new? v

Draconis Rex. Married. Wife is a doctor doeing medical/biologocial researcher doing basic research on WNT pathways. I'm boring, though very well educated as well.
I'd write more, but the youngest want's to play PBS Kids. She otherwise doesn't care for the computer. Oh yeah, I'm 41. [ 01-08-2002: Message edited by: DraconisRex ]

Hello everyone, my name is Ed, I'm 44 years, married with 3 kids, a couple of turtles and lovebirds, and a bunch of Japanese Koi. I'm a Filipino living in Manila, which makes me one of the few Asians here.
Loved crpgs since Zork in '81(?) --- one of my biggest regrets in life is not finishing the game after spending so many sleepless nights drawing maps and trying to figure out the puzzles (got stumped by one puzzle). Set aside gaming for a looong time 'til I picked up Heroes of Might & Magic on a whim. Liked it though it was a strategy game, so I thought I'd try the sister product, Might & Magic VI --- and that was like coming home! Since then, I've been constantly on the lookout for that next RPG. Played all the MM series since MMVI, BG1 and 2, IWD, Torment, W&W, Vampire and Anachronox. The last 3 I picked up to pass the time until Wizardry 8 came out. Didn't really expect much out of them, but was surprised that I immensely enjoyed Vampire and Anachronox and was actually a bit disappointed by Wizards & Warriors. I love Wiz8 and have only one complaint: combat mode is kinda slow, and there's no easy way to disengage except to get out of range. I wish they'd just adopted or improved on the MM system which was way simpler and faster, and was seamlessly integrated into the "explore" mode. I speak for my son Kevin too, who's 13 yrs. and spends way too much time on MY pc playing MY copy of Wizardry8 (**grumble**). So I guess our average age is 28 years, definitely on the young side ![]() |

Hi! My name is Reggie and I'm a 46 year old gamer from way back (but not much farther back than most of you, hehe). I got my start back in high school reading Fantasy and Sci-Fi and playing D&D. My first crpg love was a text based program a friend of mine in college wrote way back in the early 80s. I have three children (all teens), two of whom also enjoy crpg, and my lovely wife, who thinks we are all insane and stay up way to late. I sometimes can be found on the Nilgiri MUD as SIKIS, which besides being a palendrome, is the Navaho word for friend.
I am enjoying the Wizardry 8 rpg and if anyone reads this far into this thread i'll be very surprised.

Thanks Moni for starting this thread. I always thought I was the oldest RPG player ever, so I rarely posted, lol. Well, I'm Marianne (but you can all call me Mara), and I'm 43. I live in Northern Virginia and work as a technical writer for a company that deals with secure computer communication.
I've been playing RPGs forever, but this is my first Wizardry game. I am a huge Baldurs Gate fan, loved the idea of PoR (even finished it with all the bugs in it), and got this game for Christmas. My guy went into EB and asked for "a game for someone who likes to be a magic user" I had a very hard time getting used to the first player view, but now I really like it. Actually I really am getting addicted to the game, lol. Bad thing, since I also just went back to school for a BS in IT(online, fulltime). Anyway, this is about enough about me. I hope you can all forgive me the sometimes probably silly questions I'm asking. Marianne |

My name is Brian, I'm 27, and I live in Indiana. I currently work as a Network Analyst for the local DaimlerChrysler plant. I have a 5 year old daughter named Miranda, as well twin 3 year old daughters named Morgan and Megan.
Pool of Radiance was probably my first CRPG. I've pretty much been hooked ever since. Some of my personal favorite have to include all of the gold box games, Eye I and II, all the Ultima games save IX, Final Fantasy VII and currently playing X, all of the Infinity engine games (BG, BG2, IWD, PS:T), and of course the amazing Wizardry 8. Greetings, Jon Smallberries here (also known as Danger Dude on various FPS forums, and Szechuan Llama when fighting for the Inner Sphere in the Mechwarrior series games - cripes, I'm practically schizophrenic....)
33 (34 in 2 weeks!), married, first child on the way (also in 2 weeks!), one big 100+ lbs dog rescued from the Humane Society. 1st CRPG was Hack - if you know what that is, you are definitely old skool! Have played all of the Might and Magic series, Wiz8 is my first in the Wizardry series. Liking it so far, despite the fact that my level 6 party had it collective a** handed to it on the road to Arnika last night. Damn plants, who's got the "Roundup"? |
