... to have finished Wizards & Warriors before Wizardry 8 comes out. To help me get through my withdrawal stages, I'd like to start planning my W8 team. I really love imagining my characters' backgrounds, family history, Mage University majors, etc. And of course it's impossible to pick the best names without understanding the characters. Can anyone point me to a site where I can find out the races and professions that are going to be in the new game?

Dear Luke - er, I mean Mark,

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Now that you've pointed that site out to me, I've been looking at a lot of screen shots, and it strikes me that everything seems so dark . I don't mean frightening or gothic - just gloomy, somber, dismal, dreary. Maybe the planet Dominus is circling a red dwarf star. Or maybe the game is set in a very northern latitute in winter, and the nights are months long. Or maybe the native races can see in the dark.

I hope there's a way to control the brightness in the game, so we all won't be suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder.

I noticed there is no link to The Ironworks Forum hosted on the Wizardry site.

It that an impossible thing to accomplish or something Ziroc would rather not do?

If you can use a little inspiration for naming you characters, look here:
http://spitfire.ausys.se/johan/names/

It's a fantasy name generator. You can also find a village and NPC-creator over there. It's good to help alleviate the withdrawl symptons you might be having

Thanks, Snoekie, but thinking up character names is half the fun! (Well, maybe not half !)]. I think I've picked my team and names, but of course can't finally decide until I see the character portraits. Very important for the names to fit the faces.

Sometimes I think I should get a life, but then another good game finally comes out ...

You already got your party planned? Cool! Are you willing to share the names (and possible proffesions) with us?
It's one of my favortie past-times too, too think up names and roles for my characters in a game
I just don't have any thought up just yet for Wizardry 8 but that might be a good idea though.

Oooh, love to!

I've been thinking this time of playing an all-female team (being all-female myself), something I've been wanting to do for some time. Bet we kick derriere! Here's my current plan:

Race Class Nickname Full Name

Human Fighter Temper Tempered Steele
Felpurr Fighter Clawdia Clawdia Cave Felis
Hobbit Rogue Mouse Mousteria (it's a shame Ratling isn't a race)
Mook Priest Q@ of # Qasterisk of Octothorpe
Elf Psionic Lune Lune de Claire
Fairy Mage Beesting Beesting Honeysuckle

And where did you find that lovely little picture of a Snoekie?

P.S. Help, someone - how can I get a table to line up? I tried the above with a PRE tag, but maybe the problem is the proportional font?

Looks like a good party
I have just started a little bit with thinking how mine should look.
One thing is sure though, I'm gonna include a Hobbit Rogue! The few times I played the pen&paper rpg AD&D I've played a Halfling thief so I'm very glad to do it again
Not sure about the name yet; it's either going to be Sid Amos, the char I played in AD&D or something like Sixfingers, Sixpaws.

Another thing I am definatly going to play is a Gadgeteer. Hehe, man that sounds like a fun class to play
I'm thinking of a Gnome gadgeteer because gnomes are best known for their inventions but with more information on the races I might decide otherwise.
Leonardo comes to mind for his name. Or perhaps Da Vinci.

If the bard is a viable class to play I'm going to do an Elven female bard. She would seduce her enemies with her sweet voice and subtle movements of her body. Only to lead them into death and destruction ofcourse by the hands of her more Melee oriented party members
Her name could be something like: Muze or Mu'zee. Perhaps even a "regular" name like Celine. It has to sound sweet and softly somehow.

Well, that's about it for now. Short of the Human Fighter, who is always a good bet, I have not decided yet what I MUST have in my party.
But this is fun is it not? Planning ahead and stuff.

What a great animation site! Thanks!

Apparently there will be a Bard Profession:

Quote:
Bards aren't all sweetness and
light, though. Many have been known to engage in roguish activities
such as picking locks, or pockets.
So you may not need both a rogue and a bard.

The gadgeteer character intrigues me, too. Wish we knew more!
