Hello

Has anyone out there successfully returned and changed variables for
"vault money available" in logic block?.

Thought I would try here before asking cocoaspud.

hello

If I wanted to run a check on the available funds for a large transaction,
for instance to buy a large ship etc. The total pooled funds of the characters may not be enough, therefore I presume I could check the available cash in the vault and subtract the required sum from there.

greetz,

it'd probably be better to run the event normally..? let the party go back to the vault to withdraw money.. (put one nearby?)

sounds like..

the chars may arrive with say 18,000 gp and the ship will probably cost over 20,000 (so you want to check the vault?)

(is this right?) it's been a long time since i've coded anything..

since coins can weigh a bit you can change the enc. (weight) value in the game design..? (you might not wanna do that?)

i can see the value of accessing the vault for large sums of money (ie: to buy a ship, buy a house etc..) so yeh i'd like to know also..

(somehow we will have to access the variables stored in the vault and interact with them..? ..maybe the multi-stage equation thing in the game engine can use this?

[ie: where it says "tell me what you need" in the list of variables, make one of them VaultCash (the amount of money in the vault)]

Marc et al,

I asked Cocoaspud about the very same thing a while ago. The answer is, "yes, you can now do this" (as of v9.04).

One of the changes for v9.04 was "added $GET_VAULT_MONEYAVAILABLE to GPDL scripts to allow query of current vault funds." I'm not sure if you can actually change that value yet but you could prevent a purchase if the party did not have sufficient funds. I hope that helps.

I have heard that we can expect a new release soon. I think there will be a lot of minor bug fixes as well as the new Cleric and MU spells to level 2. I imagine that should give enough for designers to create a complete, small low-level adventure...

Cheers,
Steve

That's what i thought. Seems a shame though, as there's little point
in being able to check the vault money without altering the amount.

Last night a lightening strike hit a tree about a metre from my house.
It killed a bird, produced an "incredible" double bang and completely fried my modem. Everything else in my computer is fine. Bizarre.

Cheers

I don't think we can ask Richard for this sort of
thing right now. He is working hard on version 1.0.

I am looking forward to contributing some time to the
DC project again. Perhaps I can help with this Vault
Money problem. I thought I would implement it by
allowing GPDL scripts to be used in the 'Action'
boxes in the Logic Block event. Along with the necessary
GPDL functions to manipulate Vault Monies.

How should the funtions work? I don't think it is wise
to simply set the total money available. Perhaps we need
to provide functions to get/set total vault money and/or
the number of coins of each type (this was done for money
held by a character, I think).

Any ideas?
