Wonderful 'new' program--I used to have two copies of the old DOS one but it didn't work on my 'new' computer.

Anyway, being me and finally getting to the point, I just have to experiment, and so, I tried using a scene where the background and the walls were all the same picture (try it--you'll like it--I used that EasyTex to change the background into the wall etc.)

It works great, is really confusing (as I wanted it to be) but!

When I save it (deleting the excess baggage) and run the design as a separate exe those 'special' rooms come out completely black but with everything else normal otherwise. In fact, other room backgrounds disappear, also. Go on--give it a try.

Have fun,

Thaddeus Mass

A little more work shows me that when I save the whole design--it works, but, when I use the Global 'Clear Design Folder' it takes out the two 'same' pictures: bd and wa.

Any thoughts? Am I misunderstanding the Clear Design Folder idea?

Thanks,

Found it! As per usual it's a stupid mistake on the part of the 'asker'. I had put the new art work in the default etc correctly but was still working off of a copy of the design each time I saved the 'new' design. I had so many copies trying to get it to work that I lost track.(Bet nobody's done that before--not.)

Anyway, I still think it's a good idea--and now you know it really works.

Thanks,

I'm glad this one has a happy ending. Here is some clarification on the editor's behavior.

When you start the editor for the first time, it loads every image from the DefaultArt folder.

When you save a design, the editor copies the used images to the design folder and then alters every image reference so that it points to the copy in the design folder.

Now the DefaultArt images are out of the loop entirely, as the editor will now load the design images from the design folder every time.

If you select a custom image into an event (or whatever), the editor will continue to reference the location of your custom image until you save the design. Then it copies your custom image to the design folder and updates the image reference.
