It seems to me on every post I read that multi-class is the wrong way to go. So I believed in it and tried a run with the uber-class sorceror. And in my own opinion this class is to restricted to casting time. Now, I know the benifits of a good robe and amulet ie. (vecna and power) I use them personally. Yet the best defensive spells are casted in the blink of an eye and so are the best offensive spells. I feel most 8 or 9 level spells are fluff, compared to a good kick in the evil as our good friend Minsc would say.
With a simple stone skin and a haste or (boots of speed) a F/M can tear through a horde of monsters before there lips meet their favorite past time. At higher levels this bad boy has spell immunity and Tensers transformation as a kicker. And every one of these can be cast in a blink of an eye or the death of a foe with the robe of vecna.
I feel my wind-up and delivery was bad on this message, but I hope a few people shall try out the lower-classed class.

First off let me say WELOME TO THE IW BOARDS, I hope you stay around awhile and have some fun there are some good people here. As to the F/M message, I agree. I am playing through the entire series, and am almost finished my first time through, with a WizardSlayer. I have already started my second go through I'm in BG1 soloing an F/M, I haven't got to far into it yet though, but it has been fun so far. I do have one question, where and when can I get the robe of vecna?

High level multiclassed Mage/Clerics are highly under-rated.

Cast Time Stop,
cast Harm,
lalalala, WHACK!
throw a stone.

And if the target has high magic resistance, just add in a Spell Trigger filled with 3 Lower Resistance.

Amulet of Power reduces your casting time by 1. Robe of Vecna reduces your casting time by 4. Together, your total casting time is reduced by 5.

Just for you mathematically "dis-inclined" this means that spells of 5th level and lower (unless noted by a 1 round casting time) will be cast INSTANTLY according to your initiative and auto-pause! A 9th level spell would have the same casting time as a 4th level spell, making these two items extremely useful to any spell casting class.

In fact, if my primary character can use the Amulet of Power, they rarely if EVER take it off.
