Dear fellow boardie, the best class to play with... is the one that you will end up enjoying the most.

Close your eyes and visualise yourself in a medieval fantasy world, what do you see yourself as? What is your dream character? What do you wish you could be?

You see, the best person to answer this question of yours, is yourself. If you do want to be a Mage/Sorcerer, then ask yourself the following, what kind of spells do you like? Do you want to know every single spell? Do you want to cast as many spells as possible? Do you see yourself as benevolent spellcaster, or a destructive one? Do you like summoning creatures or gating in Demons? Etc... ...

Thanks for that advice. My favorite has always been a druid. Are they too hard for a newbie?
If so is their another cleric type that is easier?

Thanks

Druids progress slower and can only reach level 14. I think that they get better in TOB though.

druids in SOA can reach any level too i believe. i had a 23rd level totemic druid when i soloed it. they are extremely powerful too. once you get the creaping doom spell, they are mean as hell. i would go with a fighter/druid if you are just starting out though. they get good too, just not as fast.

Acording to the manual, druids can only reach level 14 in SOA.

trust me, they can go higher. at least in MY experiences. it might be because i had TOB installed, but i think it was before i even heard of TOB. i could be (and probably am) wrong. sorry if that is the case however.

Oh heck no, Druids can be fun to play with.

Avengers are for those who want a kickass Druid spellcaster as their range of spells are better.

Totemic Druids are for those who like to summon forth creatures to aid them in their fights.

Shapeshifter is my personal favourite, and is for those who like to be a big bad wolf( you can shapeshift into a Werewolf, later on you get to be a Greater Werewolf).

Under the SoA Xp cap, your maximum level is 14. If you have ToB installed, then your maximum level is 31. Do not be deceived though, a level 14 Druid is still a very powerful character.

Hopes this helps.

Well Scott, it looks like your having some trouble. I had much the same trouble, I got really mad at the game for taking so long to get through the first part. Right around the time I bought the game a friend of mine just got into advanced D&D. I went over and played a few times, then a few more, trying differect D&D classes, reading spells, rules etc. I went back and played BGII and had almost no problems in the first part, or the rest of the game for that fact! My second time around I solod with sorcerer, and am now on throne of bhaal with him. If you can find anyone to play some D&D games with, or just at the local wizards of the coast or something, it might help you out. Also reading their instruction books, mainly the players guide, will help a lot, you could just read through it in a bok store or something without buying it. If that doesn't help, try playing it online (if you can figure how to get it to work multiplayer is kinda buggy). People are always willing to help.
