I am so entirely pleased.

I killed the big red chuckling jerk, and my prize is..like, holy cow ;p enjoying my sword. The Carsomyr is like a big boot you put on and go stomping around on everything.

Cavalier(Paladin kit made for slaying demons and dragons) with Dragon sword, shield, and helm. March yourself up in his face. Give Minsc the best 2 handed weapon you got. (I say weapon and not sword because I had Dragon's Bane which is basically the same as the dragon sword except its a halberd, just cause he wasn't trained in how to use it didn't mean it wasn't better then the rest of the swords I had, mainly cause it's designed for vs dragons.) Anyway back to the point, quick save and summon up a nice army. Do not be foolish about this and summon fire elemental just cause Jaheria 'can' because if you think logically now fire... vs fire... does zippo. Summon Air or Earth, depending on your level and what you 'can' summon of course. Try to use cleric summons instead of mage, its never fun if you fail to dominate it and it attacks your mage. This also depends alot on your party. For me I keep good party for good cavalier. At the time I had only 5 people, I allowed Keldorn to be with his wife, I figured he had dire need of some R&R. So it was me, Minsc, Anomen, Aerie, Jaheria (yeah yeah she not good but its fun to make her complain that I'm not balanced and then even more fun to hear how shocked she is my character puts the moves on Aerie instead of her hehe). Anomen is more useful if you leveled up up and completed his quest thus getting him into the order of the most radiant heart. Sir Anomen thus gets higher Wis score and is useful in battle as a caster then. So Minsc and I pummel big and nasty from opposite sides, thus making the dragon need to turn around to attack one of us, leaving his back side exposed for the other to wack, 4 Air summons that very much annoyed him, Aerie had her sequencer loaded up for casting defencive and healing things, the ability to bless and chant at the same time mid battle is nice. Jaheria, Aerie, and Anomen all used slings once he was no longer immune to it, amazing what a few casts of breech and peirce can do, and a nice back to back critical hit from Minsc and my main character made it a most glorious finish to the battle. All in all I think we were mostly unscratched. I dont recall suffering any major injuries on anyone, other then the summons, but who cares about them anyway, they are expendable. =)

When I was playing a PC archer (with dragons as my ranger "racial enemy"), my archer probably accounted for about 90% HP done to Big Red. My tanks ended up being just annoyances to keep Big Red's attention away from my archer. When ole' firebag wing-buffeted my tanks away, my archer was still standing at a distance and firing arrows into big red and ugly's hide!!!

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned above. Be ready to cast breeching spells to take down any magical protections, specifically stoneskins. There's no sense in having your tanks and archers wasting precious hits.

All things considered, unless you have a really weak party or are playing solo, there's no need for cheesey tactics against Fiirkraag. Good solid pre-battle buffing-up and good tactics will take him down every time.

Since Firkrags Fire resistance is ioo or so use ... its gonna sound dumb...the spell resist fire/cold. It will take his fire/cold resistance to 40! Good stuff.

Try doing magic resistance to him and lower resist. I could easily take down the shadow dragon and Firkraag w/cloudkill, ice storm, fireball etc. (YES!!!!!!!!!! EVEN FIREBALL!!!!!!!!!!!)

Cloud kill has got to be the way to go. Hide just outside of his range of sight and cast 7 or 8 cloudkills on top of each other.

The cumulative effect is to do about 120 points damage to him.

The wade in and finish him off, he should be 'badly injured by now'.

The only time this falls down is if he casts a cure on himself.

Red dragon scales are yours.

On the shadow dragon, yes. On Firkraag - well, remember you likly have several chars in contact with him, and there not likly to be in the best shape.

Or to cut a long story short, I killed myself. Although i was using ADHB, which at least had the potential to hurt him

oh, and when did this thread re-surface, seems like ages ago i saw it last.
