Found this on another board... anyone else agree?

Ok folks, in this day and age where people like Uwe Boll (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/) are turning our favourite games, books, and so on into sensationalist pieces of filmed ****, we naturally are very ****** off at this blatent spit in our faces. But thou doest not understand WHY they keep doing it.

BECAUSE WE'RE SUPPORTING IT.

Do you really think these moviefunder scum really care about rating, reviews, or the opinions of yer gamer site or whiny ass Livejournals? Do you really think they make $$$ off that? NO. They make $$$ off PEOPLE PAYING TO SEE SAID FILM.

You proclaim how they're totally violating Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil, Super Mario Brothers, and so on, but when the film comes out you go see it "to see how they ruined it".

Do you understand why these people make this garbage? Because as you all often say, they're just grabs for cheap bucks. But where do you think they're getting the bucks? FROM YOU. The money you pay for those movie tickets are what matters. It doesn't matter WHY you bought them, only that you paid money for it. So instead of boycotting the ripoffs like you SHOULD, you're the ones that are making sure that they make more and more of them, because THEY WILL MAKE MONEY OUT OF YOU SEEING IT.

You really want to stop this? What should you do when Doom and Farcry and so on appear in theaters? Don't go. [snip] Took out advice that was against TOS - T-D-C [/snip] Or just don't see it. But don't go to the theater, don't rent it, don't buy it reguardless of how you buy it. Don't buy novelizations or versions of the books with movie covers. And write some nasty letters and polls and petitions while your're at it.

Then maybe these people will get a clue and start making quality original films or maybe put some effert into the conversions.

But for alls sake, don't support it.

Well, he/she is correct that such movies wouldn't be made if they weren't going to make a profit or at least break even. But I do not agree with severa other things said in that post.

Boycotting a film won't be very effective because it would simply be impossible to get a significantly large number of people to agree NOT to see it. Several people had probably already decided NOT to see it because they don't like what was done to other games in similar movies, but those who are interested in the movie probably will NOT agree to NOT go see it just because this dude has his panties in a wad over it. Seriously, if I came on here and started saying "DO NOT GO SEE THE NEW DOOM MOVIE", how many of you would say "Hmmm, Cerek has a point" and how many would say "If he doesn't want to see it that's fine, but he isn't gonna tell ME which movie to see or not see".

Personally, I think this guy needs to get a life. It's silly to get THAT upset over a film. I'm a big comic fan and I am VERY happy to finally see lots of "superhero" movies being made. And even though some of them (such as Punisher and Daredevil) aren't nearly as well done and exciting as others (Spiderman and X-Men), I still enjoyed them.

And I am VERY glad Peter Jackson finally undertook the epic task of turning the greatest fantasy trilogy into a series of movies. So no, I do NOT wish "they" would STOP making movies about video games and books. I didn't go see Alone in the Dark and I won't go see the Doom movie, because I am not a huge fan of those games and don't really care about a movie made about them.

Finally, the language in that post pushes the limit of what is acceptable on this post, and the open encouragement to pirate the movies and/or buy bootleg copies is a DIRECT TOS violation. You might want to be a bit more cautious about posting comments from other forums here.
