I'm not looking for answers like "when they get stale and the shows are just the same ideas/jokes/cases being rehashed" I'm looking for what season ender of a show should have been the final one (doing such a masterful job with the finale that the following season was nothing but a let down.

I have two that I can name off the top of my head,

Frasier: should have ended with Niles and Daphne getting together at the wedding and leaving together, it was a great closing piece, and tho they aren't the pivotal character their subplot has become the primary driving force behind the show, it provided some of the best situational humor the show had, I mean come on, you can only take Kelsey Grammer being an uptight snob (as the central focus) for so long, and they were the fresh air that kept the show alive.

Roseann: Not sure which season #, but it was the one that ended with Dan (John Goodman's character) having a heart attack at Darlene's (Sarah Gilbert - fyi laura ingles from little house on the prairie's little sister) wedding, the show had been going downhill for quite a while, and that would have ended it on a starkly tragic note, instead of going through 2 more seasons of utter steaming crap they could have ended it with that season of semi-warm crap, with a painful sad exit, I know people like happy endings but there wasn't one with that show, and it betrayed what the show started as, a portrayal of a disfunctional family struggling against shitty jobs, normal, and abnormal children, and the mostly real issues that middle class people face. (the second show was brought up by seeing reruns for it and recalling why I stopped watching it, it had strayed too far from it's roots, a show and group does have to grow to stay fresh, but if you forget where you came from, you've alienated your base audience and ticked off potential new viewers several seasons earlier.)

Full House: should never have been on the air.

8 Simple Rules: when John Ritter died (have one last episode with everyone at the hospital crying, then kill it off)

MASH: when Colonel Blake died on the way home (Potter just never did it for me)

Real World: before the Miami season (when they had to start putting "special jobs" in to keep it interesting)

Big Brother: after the first one (boring)
