Hi!

I just bought the complete Baldurs Gate compilation. I had BG2+ToB before but I have not even get through SoA yet so I think that I start with BG1 and play the same character through the series. But my question is should I play it the "original way", even with so dated graphics or should I use easytutu or BGT? Are they difficult to use? What would make best experience for me? And what patches etc I should download?

Play Bg1 without TuTu. Play it WITH BG1 Unfinished Business,,,and perhaps EoU.

Why? I thought that with Tutu its more enjoyable experience althought the old graphics dont matter to me that much. It feels kind of a nostalgic that way. But using Unfinished Business sounds good idea, thanks.

You've kinda answered your own question there, but anyway...

If I hadn't actually played Vanilla BG at all previously, I'd probably persevere with it in its original nostalgic glory first, since it was practically how most of us started playing the game.

However, I'm thoroughly enjoying my current game through BG1, which is also my first time installation of EastyTuTu and a couple of Gibberling3 NPC related mods. It has enriched the game's atmosphere quite a bit, almost to the point of making it feel like a new game. But having said that, I still love the older stony-style graphics so much that I downloaded an old style GUI tutu mod strictly to keep the game feeling like the original BG (which I've always liked more than SoA).

I've never tried Unfinished Business though yet myself...

So in conclusion, I'd probably go for the epic crawl through the entire series starting from the beginning, in its pure original flavour. But if graphics, content or whatever get in the way of your experience, hey - mod to your hearts content.
Happy gaming.
Cheers,
CD

Thanks, CD! So, if I just play Bg1 and TotSC in original way what patches and fixes should I get so that bugs would be minimum in the game? My biggest reason for using easytutu would be that then I would be able to choose BG2 kits. I thought that it would be great to take druid avenger...that spider form could be quite lethal in BG1, I would think..

Most of the kits are heavily overpowered when played in BG I. Great fun though!

Any sense of a kit being overpowered should be compensated by raising the difficulty I'd assume, and yes, it is great fun. As to the patches;
If you've got the 3 cd Original Saga, I don't think you need any patches. But if you're using the six cd version (like I am) you'll probably need the international 5512 patch, depending of course on what version you have. Here's a link:

http://www.bioware.com/games/tales_s...pport/patches/

There's no other required patches with the current version of EasyTutu as far as I'm aware, just ensure that any other mods you're using are compatible with it before going crazy installing stuff.

Otherwise, enjoy!
Cheers,
CD

P.S:
I really do reccomend the BG1-NPC Project.
Take a look here, if you're intending to play Tutu. http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg1npc/index.php

BG1 came in 1 dvd-disk and ToTSC is in 1 cd. Im planning to install them tomorrow or wednesday but Im still not sure what to use. Kits would be great, I really would like to try Avenger. But I dont want it to be too easy. Although it probably isnt because BG2 with normal difficulty seems to be ok challenge for me. Maybe I should try the first time to play without much mods or add-ons so the game would be what its supposed to be. Thanks for the links, CD.

I don't know about other kits, but I tried a totemic druid in TuTu,,,,,and he was very overpowered. The ability to shapechange into a great cat was over-the-top. So, if you use kits, you may indeed want to ramp up the difficulty bar.

I installed EasyTutu and started playing and it works great. Its really fun. My main character is druid avenger (and it really isnt overpowered at all at least not yet because I cant make Shapechanges) and I also have Imoen, Kivan and Ajantis. Beginning was really difficult when even 2 wolves could kill me!! I play with core rules. Well, Im still in very early phases of the game, lets see how it continues.
