Cloakwood and the Bandit Camp are plot-related locations. As such, you need to find them. Think... Having solved the Nashkel mines, what is your logical next step in the investigation? Examine the evidence in your possession and make your move. Pay particular attention to any correspondence you may have obtained in your travels.
As for Durlag's Tower, well, you can't get there alone. Perhaps you need a guide?

It is possible to stumble upon Durlag's Tower if you crawl around every map in the wilderness without a guide. Pelvdale and Larswood are easily reachable, but you do need a guide (or an invitation) to find out where the bandits originate. You cannot even see the Cloakwood until the appropriate time.

I actually, in about 6-7 times through this game, have never used the guide to get to Durlag's Tower. Just one of those things I guess...
If you complete the plot sequences, you will get all those areas on your map. Make sure, when you can, to pick up all the letters on plot-related NPCs, even if you're not reading them they may update your map. |

thanks for the help i finally got bandits camp up by defeating tranzig
have now finished all of cloakwood including the mines. I got durlags tower up by talking to a dwarf in ulgoths beard. i picked up a surprising little dwarf called yeslick in the mines he is proving to be an asset and a hinderance because every so often he starts joining and rejoining our party and i cant seem to get him to stop. however back to the battle with the battle horrors they are proving formidable foes.

The overall game progress really picks up after you clear the Cloakwood. Good luck.

Backstabs are lovely against Battle Horrors. When I went through Durlag's Tower on my last run, it could've been just Coran, the Gauntlets of Ogre Power and Boots of Speed.
If you have a fighter/mage or someone similar, who can cast some serious defensive spells (Mirror Image comes to mind as a great one,) and then throw on some Plate Mail and a Shield, then move in everyone else with magical weapons and spells, you should be able to wreck them fairly fast. I always found the problem was not so much me killing them, but rather killing them fast enough to avoid one of my party members getting killed. |

I went through Durlag's Tower with my solo thief. And alot of invisibility potions.
Was the best time I've ever had, since the last time I got the metaphorical crap kicked out of me with a 6 person party. |
