Just finished the book (well.. I did so yesterday evening) and it was really brilliant! Thumbs up to Joanne! The book was long, but I very vived as well. I can tell you I was hating Dolores Jane Umbridge so much at the end of the book (and Draco too, when he became part of her inpecting group)!! Talk about integration with the storyline!
Really liked the darker side of Harry, and it was well written as well. Dumbledore's story at the end was a tidbit vague, IMHO, but OK nevertheless. And Fred and George are my heroes as well!! The way they left, with that Broomstick scene, that was just unforgettable. I could really imagine how that must've looked.
The fight in de Ministry of Mysteries was ok as well, although perhaps a bit overpowered where a bunch of children defeat a couple of highly lethal Death Eaters, but it was cool But the way that certain person (no ultimate spoilers here) died, it was all happening so quick, that you couldn't prepare yourself for it. But maybe that's a good thing..

Well, it's Monday now and I just got it Friday night I think. I really wasn't too anxious to get it because I've been comepletely engrossed in R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt books. My brother's reading it right now, and he really likes it. He keeps saying how he wants to talk about it with me, but that would give it away for me. I can wait to read it though, I'm not really in a hurry. But I am in a hurry to get my hands on a copy of "The Legacy of the Drow". I would have ordered it off of amazon in order to have it right when I finished Icewind Dale, but I read the last 3 or 4 hundred pages in 2 days and the end of the book snuck up on me. Now I'm gonna have to go to Borders or something.

Anyway, getting off topic here (sorry).
My dad enexpectingly came home with the 5th HP book late one night after going to his baseball book club meeting, and my brother started it that night. It worked out well for me, because I wasn't expeting to get it for a while, and now I can just start it when I'm ready (once my brother's done). Anyway, I'm glad to hear that most people like it, and looking forward to reading it.

Am I reading this right? Are you admitting to stealing a copyright protected piece of literature from a download site, instead of paying for it legally? You know, I think our rules about piracy also pertains to literature, and not just video games, but I am putting words in Ziroc's mouth that he has not uttered...so I do not know what to think. How do you feel about it?
I feel nothing about it at all ... i've bought the original copy of the book and my sibling borrowed it, which was annoying, so instead of buying another copy, i downloaded it. So i guess no harm done !!

Edit: Saying that i downloaded the book has got nothing to do with bragging, it is a mere statement, perhaps reflecting .......... but as it was said, HP5 discussion it is ....

What happened to Grawp in the end?

I think the Prophecy was a tiny bit of a let down, not much tho.

The way the Cho thing ended, IMPO, was not very good. I'm not saying Harry and her should have got together, oh I dunno, just wasnt pleased with it!!!

Would also like to know what "Rememeber My Last" meant.......

Fred & George are now probably my fave characters, they were awesome in this book!

Can't wait for the 3rd film now!!!

Would also like to know what "Rememeber My Last" meant.......

"You sent that Howler. You told her to remember - it was your voice..."
"I thought," said Dumbledore, inclining his head slightly, "that [Petunia] might need reminding of the pact she had sealed by taking you. I suspected the Dementor attack might have awoken her to the dangers of having you as a surrogate son."

I assume 'Remember my Last' is Dumbledore telling Aunt Petunia to remember the last letter he wrote to the Dursleys - i.e the letter that was in Harry's basket as he was left on the doorstep.

As for Grawp, I daresay he'll be in the next book, because nothing happened to him! The centaurs certainly couldn't do anything.

I would like to humbly say that this was, in my opinion the best so far in the series. J.K. Rowling has progressed so far from where she started, which I think is the mark of a good author. In the fifth one, I felt so much for all the characters, including Umbridge. (That is, I completely loathed her.) I loved some things in it, that I'm not sure are spoilers, but I'll use tags just in case.

I adored Fred and George's exit in this book, along with the things they did throughout the book. I also loved Peeves in the end, how he followed Umbridge around blowing wet rasberrys at her. I cried when an important character died. (I'm some what sentimental like that.)

A thought that made me grin, when it occurred to me; something that will most likely only make sense to Brits, but hey...

The Ministry for Magic is a department of our own Government, in theory, yes?

Does Dolores Umbridge strike anyone as being somewhat... well... New Labour?
